SG Homework: Blog for WINTER

Hello, it's not summer everywhere in the world! It's the middle of winter here in lonely old Australia, and personally, I am a huge fan.

I come from WA where it is hot most of the year and slightly cool for a few months. I hated it, so I have moved to the other side of this huge island, Victoria, where it even...

SG Homework - My summer plans

My blog about summer plans according to @missy and @rambo 's homework:

You might or might not know that I lost my jon on New Years Eve. Since then I've been job hunting like crazy (except when I've been away to visit my lady, of course). I haven't found a proper, serious, stable job by now but for 3/4 months I

Hi academics! Maybe we can get this group going again. I'm a new SG member. I'm a PhD, MAMA in sociology (originally from Canada, so I had to redo my MA when I came to the US). Maybe we can get this group going again. I'm a new SG member. I'm a PhD, MAMA in sociology (originally from Canada, so I had to redo my MA when I came to the US). My areas are demography and health, and most of my current research is focused on how different types of relationships (friendships, romantic partners, or social isolation/loneliness) affect health and well-being. I'm guessing @sickboyedd isn't still here, but I did some studies on the heritability of sex ratio in people (not bumblebees). I also looked at how the sex composition of children (number of boys and girls) is related to divorce. It used to be that you could add up the number of girls in a family and increase the divorce risk by 7% (compared to similar couples with boys), but this effect went away in the 1990s. My work showed that it was because fathers used to be less involved with daughters than sons, but now are more equally involved. Father involvement still predicts divorce risk, but gender of kids no longer predicts father involvement. Cheers!

I’ve been in...

SG Homework: Write about a crazy dream you've had from @rambo and @missy

So the topic for the homework from @rambo and @missy is about a crazy dream we've had. Hmmm.

I know I have had quite a few wild ones, but the problem is remembering them enough to actually write about them.

There is one that I remember in particular that I had some years back. As some of you know, my dad passed away in...
