So, this blog assignment is dedicated to the hardships of discrimination. I've read a handful of posts discussing tattoo or alternative body modification in the workplace, the struggles of being a woman or any other identity on the gender spectrum other than a white cisgender hetero-affectionate male, and those giving a from-experience lens of the racial discrimination still occurring in 2016. These are all...

I grew up in the South and experienced a lot of the discrimination and many of my jobs. Even from simple things like dying my hair a non natural color and having my tongue pierced. I got passed over for a couple promotions as a result of it. I moved to Colorado a while after that and realize how much different things could be in an area where people are open and accepting of body modification and body art. As I begin to have influence in hiring practices I made sure of that I did everything that I could to try and shift the ideas of professionalism that have haunted individuals who have the desire for self expression.   I have recently I have recently moved back to the South and had forgotten just how interesting it is here. Even my cousins have had issues at their places of employment do to tattoos on their arms. Being required to wear bandages or long sleeves to cover it up at all times in an office environment. It's definitely something as a society that we need to change at least in this area of the country.

Has anybody gone to one of these? Thoughts? Recommendations?

I'd post this in the Psychedelic Rainbows Group. But, my membership has been 'pending' for a couple months now 😕

I'm liking the sounds of this retreat:

My best friend was lucky enough to find  a shaman from Peru where she lives, he holds ceremonies in his house periodically. She and her boyfriend did it together, and she said it was an experience of a lifetime.

I don't know about this curandero, but at least it doesn't seem suspicious! Ayahuasca ceremony can be indeed a strong experience, but be aware that it can be tough as well. The cleansing/purge preliminaries can be quite unpleasant, depending on how authentic their methods are. And last, drinking Yage is no joke, don't go there thinking you'll have a "psychedelic" experience. It's another world, I suggest you consider it with respect, and with the desire to learn. I've seen enough irresponsible, unprepared ass-holes go nuts during the ceremony, or behave like damn tourists, wasting the opportunity they were given.

So, I decided to do round 2 of my blog series on "The Story Of My Tattoo".

I have the lyrics "I Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way" from Gainesville Rock City on my lower back. It's about 7 years old now and is going to have wine work on it eventually.

I do love Less Than Jake, they're amazing, but this

Yes, that's right, people still don't take females seriously when it comes to live music photography, and i'm sure many other areas of photography. Not only was I discriminated against because I am female, I was also discriminated against for being naked on the internet, AT THE SAME TIME.

It...
