I went back and fourth on making this thread, but decided to start the discussion.

Im looking for advice/opinions/solidarity on the struggle between being straight edge and being prescribed medication.

Im asking specifically about mental health medications, like long term mood stabilizers and antidepressants (lamotragine, lithium, welbutrin etc ...

I don't think it's generally a good idea to go straight to medication as a first resort, but it can totally be necessary to function. @damian_stark 's last sentence sums it up really well: "Be sure that a flat refusal to do medication is not a flat refusal to improve your life."

We've talked about medications for mental health conditions - I'm also curious what people think about about medication for other conditions.

Have you felt conflicted about hormonal birth control or medications for physical conditions? Or not so much, since these don't generally have the same kinds of noticeable effects on your brain function?

I am one who is and has always been of the opinion that natural is best. I don't like putting anything in my body that didn't come from the ground, and like homeopathic remedies very much.

That said, someone very close to me has struggled with anxiety and panic attacks for a few years. It got to the point where we were in Urgent care every other week for a little bit.

While I agree with @damian_stark - the satisfaction and confidence that comes with un-medicated success is unparalleled, I think sometimes the journey needs a kick start.

My friend is on Celexa (going on seven months) and has a great outlook on and perspective on things. I think he may go off of it at a years time and see how he does.

Regardless of your beliefs or your preferences, sometimes you need a helping hand. It's up to each person to decide for themselves when that is.

Thanks @rambo @missy and @lyxzen for this blog homework! I always love to talk about music!

So maybe you already know that music is a bog part of my life and if i have to choose wich songs play in my head all the time ill have to go with every song by my favourite band : Amenra.

Their albums really spunds like what my soul...

Cette  photo est magnifique, tu es magnifique

I've ranted about this particular issue on Twitter in the last few days, so thank you @missy and @rambo for giving me an excuse to rant about it here too!

This issue of Transgender people using public bathrooms has been in the news and talked about a lot recently. So much of what is said is pure fantasy and lies - just check out Snopes...

Amen! I was listening to a podcast about this topic and the woman made a good point. I'm more worried taking the subway late at night then whose peeing in the stale next to me. Which I agree on.

@mavis_ I've made this exact point to people many times. And unisex toilets would actually make things safer because it is twice as likely there will be witnesses around. But people have this mental block, it doesn't matter how many logical reasons you present them, they somehow can't accept peeing in the same area as someone with different genitals to them.

Hi @missy @rambo and @lyxzen !!

The soundtrack of my life is hip hop! I grow up with HH and one of my fav song is Wishing on a star by Jay Z.

I grew up in the suburbs and listening to this song I can understand its true meaning.
When I was a child I watched the older guys who made easy money and I...

Hey peeps! Hey @missy @rambo @lyxzen! I really enjoyed pouring beer for the Fort Rock Festival in Florida this year. All the bands and event staff were on their A game and the event ran pretty smoothly and on time! I got to meet SG member @1itsme1

and of course my main man @pk1980fl was right there with me, slinging cocktails and beer. This was

In the past I came across some posts on Facebook or Instagram where people complained about getting their tattoo copied, and I felt at the time they were being a little dramatic about it. I must admit my opinion somewhat changed when the other day someone made me notice that ...

Yeah, and tattoo machines are guns too I suppose. Anything can be a word, and in the dictionary, they are all made up. Tattooer. Andthing you can go do, like go run, runner. Go hike, hiker. Go swim, swimmer. Go tattoo, tattooer. You can't go gitar, gitarest. You can't go dental, dentist. You can't go peano, pianist. And so on. Tattoo artist is incorrect as well. Lucky for me, I'll never have to tattooist you ;) yes very obnoxious. Personal "bugbear" of mine, people that call tattooers "tattooists" or tattoo machines "guns". Oh and people that rip off other people's work, cover band tattooers can call themselves tattooists all day! @sosbanfach

I'm not naming names, but I recently discovered someone on here has copied my awesome (and still unfinished) leg tattoo in a smaller version in the same spot. I'm pretty upset about it, especially since I've been working on this for 2 years and having my illness get in the way of getting more work. I guess the joke's on her because she has no clue how much more awesome mine is going to be when colored in. I actually think she's waiting to have her's finished until mine is. So far she has the same exact outline as mine...

Inventing new cocktails is one of the great joys in life. This thread is for innovators and visionaries. No judgments, just sharing your own private recipes and picking up new ones. I'll try to taste test as many of them as I can.

I'll start us: the Oxford ...

My personal favorite that I drink when I get sick.

Start with a shot glass.

Add .50 oz of Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey (or any other honey whiskey will be fine)

Add .50 oz of Spiced Rum (Captain Morgan or Sailor Jerry, etc.)

Top with either orange juice or pineapple juice.

I call it. . .The Cough Drop

@lyxzen I saw there are tickets for the glass house show as well and that would be better for me as it would be less drive time. Still have to see if it will work out.

Awesome. I will be in the LA area this summer so I'll definitely be on the look out for shows with this post :)
