I went back and fourth on making this thread, but decided to start the discussion.

Im looking for advice/opinions/solidarity on the struggle between being straight edge and being prescribed medication.

Im asking specifically about mental health medications, like long term mood stabilizers and antidepressants (lamotragine, lithium, welbutrin etc ...

I think @lyxzen comment about meds is spot on. It shouldn't be your first stop in treatment, but that doesn't mean it should be ruled out entirely, especially if it can significantly improve your health and quality of life. I know people who have made huge changes in their lives without meds, but also others who need meds and I don't think either is right or wrong. Everybody is different - listen to your body. I'm really struggling with that birth control question myself though, at the moment. I have a lot of health problems that could potentially be improved with BC pills (I'm sterile so I don't actually need them for birth control lol). But I'm so afraid of messing with anything that will affect my mood/hormones that I haven't been able to try that step yet 😕

It really needs to be addressed on a case by case basis. My belief is that most (mind you I said Most, not All) maladies can be dealt with by a lifestyle change, diet & exercise. Whether it be physical, mental or both. But that doesn't work right away, to allow a body to naturally heal itself doesn't happen overnight, sometimes it may take weeks or even longer. Since we live in a culture of everything has to be 'Right Now' a pill is generally the first choice to get the ball rolling. Hopefully you get a physician who is willing to work with you to regain your balance and is not just looking for another life long customer.

Thanks @rambo @missy and @lyxzen for this blog homework! I always love to talk about music!

Hello,
I'm Mike and I'm new to the group. Mythology has been a hobby of mine since I was a kid. My parents would buy my books on world myth and I would read encyclopedias of gods and monsters. I am curious what everybodies favorite creatures are?

I've ranted about this particular issue on Twitter in the last few days, so thank you @missy and @rambo for giving me an excuse to rant about it here too!

This issue of Transgender people using public bathrooms has been in the news and talked about a lot recently. So much of what is said is pure fantasy and lies - just check out Snopes...

@mavis_ I've made this exact point to people many times. And unisex toilets would actually make things safer because it is twice as likely there will be witnesses around. But people have this mental block, it doesn't matter how many logical reasons you present them, they somehow can't accept peeing in the same area as someone with different genitals to them.

Hi @missy @rambo and @lyxzen !!

The soundtrack of my life is hip hop! I grow up with HH and one of my fav song is Wishing on a star by Jay Z.

I grew up in the suburbs and listening to this song I can understand its true meaning.
When I was a child I watched the older guys who made easy money and I...

Hey peeps! Hey @missy @rambo @lyxzen! I really enjoyed pouring beer for the Fort Rock Festival in Florida this year. All the bands and event staff were on their A game and the event ran pretty smoothly and on time! I got to meet SG member @1itsme1

and of course my main man @pk1980fl was right there with me, slinging cocktails and beer. This was

In the past I came across some posts on Facebook or Instagram where people complained about getting their tattoo copied, and I felt at the time they were being a little dramatic about it. I must admit my opinion somewhat changed when the other day someone made me notice that ...

I'm not naming names, but I recently discovered someone on here has copied my awesome (and still unfinished) leg tattoo in a smaller version in the same spot. I'm pretty upset about it, especially since I've been working on this for 2 years and having my illness get in the way of getting more work. I guess the joke's on her because she has no clue how much more awesome mine is going to be when colored in. I actually think she's waiting to have her's finished until mine is. So far she has the same exact outline as mine...

As an artist, I see stuff around my city that was very easily 'inspired' by stuff my collective and I do - artworks, very niche event themes etc.

We've come to digest it as a complement so that we don't expend a whole load of energy on being irked, that energy we could spend on creating something new or developing our practice. I know it's temporally different to the process of getting and living with a tattoo, but the intention of appropriation is the same - they want your creative thinking and are inspired by what you made. We all have images/snapshots/strong visual memories gathered throughout our lives and it would be daft to think we weren't inspired even unknowingly, by others.

You are an individual working from the inside out and that is what sets you apart from the next. :)

Inventing new cocktails is one of the great joys in life. This thread is for innovators and visionaries. No judgments, just sharing your own private recipes and picking up new ones. I'll try to taste test as many of them as I can.

My personal favorite that I drink when I get sick.

Start with a shot glass.

Add .50 oz of Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey (or any other honey whiskey will be fine)

Add .50 oz of Spiced Rum (Captain Morgan or Sailor Jerry, etc.)

Top with either orange juice or pineapple juice.

I call it. . .The Cough Drop
