@tulipe @maevee - I respect everybody's right to have an opinion - especially when it comes to art (music, film, visual art etc) - and I don't expect people to endorse my tastes or what is personally important to me. When I hear somebody say such strong things like the irritate me - or I they make me want to stab myself - it kind of makes me wonder why. If you take away the desire to make the world a better place - the activism they do (perhaps perceived as self-righteousness - or messianic complexes) - and evaluate the music in of itself upon being good or bad - perhaps I would understand why people would have such strong negative opinions about U2. If people who have a very discriminating taste in music - or people who have a certain criteria of what makes good music - or good rock and roll - separating it from the rest of the stuff that is out there - criteria or rules the come from the stand point of a well informed musician, or a music journalist - or perhaps a musicologist - I suppose I can understand somebody not liking them. I suppose when I hear people say that they 'revile" U2 - it puzzles me - which is fine. Not everything has to make sense especially when it comes to art or opinions about celebrity. Thanks for sharing your opinions.
