I've been reading an interesting book about Abraham Lincoln called 'Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln' I find it moving at times, and among other things it is inspirational to see how he dealt with adversity and failure. It is also interesting to read about the events leading up to the civil war since I know very little about it.
TV-wise I've finished up both seasons of In Treatment. It is was pretty great. It will be interesting if they go ahead with a third season because the first two were closely based off of an Isreali show call BeTipul. It surprised me how the psychiatrist was so good with his patients and yet so troubled in his personal life.
I've seen the piiot for Glee, and it is a hilarious slightly unreal take on a high school 'glee club.'
SYTYCD (So You Think You Can Dance) is irking me a little because they have eliminated a lot of good dancers so far for pretty much unknown reasons. A lot of them were cute too : ( I guess my favourites for the boys and girls going in are... the Haitian and the asian ballroom dancer with the tiny head?
On the crap side of things I've just seen the pre-air pilot for Nurse Jackie, starring the wife from the Sopranos. (Edie Falco) I found this show poorly written with cliched characters. The doctor wasn't believable to me, and the gay guy was really weak. I probably won't bother watching any more of it. Watching shows that don't quite get things right make you appreciate good writing like that in In Treatment at least.
Now... to break my slush addiction.
