I think its time i did a new blog so here it is.
The due date for Louis arriving is getting closer, Alice is nearly 36 weeks pregnant, i cant begin to tell you how happy I am and how proud of Alice i am. I am however very nervous and worried i wont be enough support for her during labour and after.
for the past 5 months i have been unemployed, although now i do have a job but i dont know when i will start, anyway looking for work has made me think of the previous jobs i have had and i thought about one in particular. back in 1994/95 i worked for a security firm as a mobile driver and dog handler, basically i drove from building to building and checked them throughout for any problems and as i was the only mobile dog handler i would be called to any trouble or alarm activations. Before i started the job i needed to be trained with the dogs, i remember turning up for my training which was done by an ex RAF dog handler, i took an instnt dislike to the guy and he did me too, this hate relationship continued throughout my time at the firm. I was first trained how to handle a Rottweiler and i did pretty well, i learnt the basics and how to control an attack and get the dog off the victim. as i was to be a mobile dog handler i needed to be trained with their only German Shephard called Tory. Tory had a bad reputation and was considered to be hard to handle, he had in the past bitten most of the dog handlers and was quite a wild card, so i was warned of all this and told not to expect much on the first occasion. I was told to stand by the gate of the car park as my trainer got Tory from his kennel and walked to the middle of the yard, as he stood ther and Tory looked at me I had a conversation with my trainer as a way of getting the dog used to my voice, tory made no response as i slowly walked closer and eventually stood next to my trainer, then Tory decided to give 2 short barks and sit down. the guy training me was very shocked by this and handed me Tory's leed, i walked around the yard a few times with Tory by my side and looking up at me, the training went very well. over my time at the company Tory and I formed a great bond, the first august i worked there i leterally only had one night off, i worked permenent nights form 7pm to 8am. I very rarely used any other dog then Tory, i was the only handler that tory would cuddle, he would stand on his hind legs and put his front paws on my shoulders and rest his head on my chest, he would work well for me too, if I needed him to bark or show aggression he would gladly do it. After i left the firm i saw Tory with another handler about a year later, i started to walk towards them and call Tory, the handler told me to back away as he would release the dog who would bite me, i tried to explain i used to be a handler of Tory but he wouldnt listen, Tory didnt bark but he did look at me when I called his name, the guy handling him gave me a warning 2 more times and then released Tory, who ran towards me jumped up and cuddled me the way he used to, it was great to see him again and to have that reaction.
I have done a few different jobs in my life so far and this is one that i miss, mainly for the relationship with Tory, i made a couple of other friendships while i was there too but unfortunatley they have drifted apart.
Anyway that is a long blog for me and i doubt many of you have read this far, but thanks if you have there is no real point to the main part of this blog its merely something i had thought about recently.
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of louis and i look forward to my time as a father and hope i will be a good one

Everything seems to be coming together perfectly now, just in time for Louis' arrival.
