So, I had heard about this movie before, but never had a chance to watch it. But as luck would have it, it was on sale on Google play this weekend, so I picked it up for 5 bucks. When the movie first started, I slowly began to wonder if I had made a mistake. I mean, I had heard it was slow paced, but for maybe the first 20 minutes or so, it felt like it barely even moved.
But thankfully, I gave it a fair chance, and after that first 20 something minutes, it started to get really good. If you don't know, the basic story follows a man who dies and comes back as a ghost in a sheet with holes cut out for the eyes (think childhood Halloween costume). The man returns home to attempt to comfort his grieving widow.
But where it really shines, is its treatment of larger concepts like the passage of time, and our place in the world.
In all honesty, it's not an easy movie to describe without giving away too much. My own search for hints about what it was about (while avoiding spoilers) didn't give me much to go on. But one word that kept coming up in regards to the movie was haunting. And it's the perfect description of this film. Haunting. No, I don't mean that in a horror movie sense. It's just such a thought provoking movie, and there's a sadness that comes with it, that it stays with you.
I know it came out about a year ago, but I don't get to see movies all that often. Has anyone else seen this amazing movie? What were your thoughts?
