very excited - will be staying on the southern edge of Waikiki near (the) Diamondhead... only a few months of cold to go first *shivers*
elsewise, well... tough news Tues - which has made for a tough week and likely a tough weekend to come...
a very good friend I'd known very well - even with years lost inbetween - passed
he was the one I'd posted about before, that was terminal & fighting :(
so... at least the fight his part of the fight is over
EVERYone should, at some point in their lives (hopefully most of their life) meet THAT someone, the kind of someone that stories are told about & laughter inevitably follows...
that one-of-a-kind/one-in-a-million sort of person that was always there for everyone when able
where quiet moments & crazy parties alike are equally remembered with fondness & smiles
the kind of person you're glad to have had in your life both in your best of times & your worst of times
the person that - unquestionably - everyone is sad to see go, but know that the pain was getting too much & it was finally time
Jim was that guy - a man people will be telling stories about for a lifetime
a man that'll be remembering in the little things and the get-togethers to come
a man who was family-without-need-for-blood - a brother, to me, and so much more
tomorrow, the visitation, and Sat, the funeral, will be tough...
even if I hadn't made the promise to, this is one that I would be ensuring I could get to anyways
( even as much as I normally avoid visitations/funerals )
but this is as much for us as for Jim
...mostly for us, a get-the-hurt-out-of-the-system & remember-the-man-that-was ordeal, certainly
a long ride ahead for a mutual friend & I tomorrow - and return on Tsun...
LOW/north country isn't quite close to the Cities - it'll be an at least 6hr drive there, then back
but that's where he grew up, that's where I met him, that's where he & his wife ended up in the end...
there's no question I feel for her, being such a lovely person & part of our lives as well ( even if not for as long )
aye, gonna pull a few hours tomorrow AM before my friend is ready & on her way t'pick me up
thankfully I work for a place that's good about things like that
ANYways... I've got a little bit o'packing t'do for the weekend, then relax for a bit & tonight see if I can actually sleep
I mean, I always awake once or twice during the night normally, but still get in a good 6-8... past couple nights have been far less
( understandably, I suppose - so much on the mind )
...so here's to warmer weather in the future, & Keep Living & Enjoying Life, My Lovelies & Gentlefolk!
