NO, my vacation time hasn't re-set itself ( yet )
and NO, I will not be taking another vacation this year - sorry to disappoint ;)
AND while I'm not one to look ahead vacationally ( or directionally ), at least normally, due to cost factors, times/dates, & etc being unknowns... especially when considering it's a couple seasons away !
this does NOT mean, however, that I can't pick a spot/area that I'd like to consider for one of next year's vacas ( yes, I say that plural, since I get roughly 15+ days/3 weeks vaca but couldn't take 3 weeks off at a chunk if I wasnted to! )
SO... what this addled mind of mine is thinking is where I could potentially afford and like to do some wandering next year
as I've mentioned before there are a few places that've always intrigued me, national and international...
on that note, most international that's on my current intrigue list don't have english as a primary language nor spoken by majority citizenship
not that that's a hindrance, if done well and correctly, but for first int'l trip it may be a bit much... including possibly monetarily
and since my passport is good until 2027, I think I can hold off for now on Poland, etc ( no offense, Poland, etc, I just haven't seen enough of the US yet to Pass Go yet ;) )
SO... that gives us nationally - and since I don't want to mentally juncture road-trip possibilities yet ( far too early and no need to plan so far ahead for )...
that does limit things - primarily to places that I could wanderbout a bit, as I like to do, without vehicular need, which - if I'm to fly there - I have no intent to rent a vehicle as well
which brings up two prime possibilies - at least, at this mental (dis)connect :
Hawai'i or D.C.
both intrigue me a lot - and both have a lot to offer, though both, from when I've looked into them, are costly each in their own ways
( hence, the pre-mental planning and potential determination of what I'm saving for - and other pre-plans as/if necessary to the locale that ends up chosen )
I'm honestly leaning Hawai'i - better weatherwise for a mid-April or mid-May jaunt, certainly
- depending on the island, more potential to see and experience ( Oahu seems to be the better choice for variation and first-time experiences, from what I can tell & see )
while D.C. has the museums & monuments galore, many require months advance notice - not something I like to do if I have a choice... I like to keep things chaotic and varied ;) :D
Oahu Hawai'i also has its museums & monuments & other possibilities ( yes, even with my inability to swim *laughs* )
the intent is 10-12 days ( to use up roughly 7-10days of the vacation to utilize ), to give myself wandertime as well as sight-time :)
( I know, I'm weird that way... )
As always - and PLEASE - SUGGESTIONS WELCOMED & WANTED... whether it involves Hawai'i vs D.C. or other destination possibilities
even things to check out at said locations is VERY welcome !
( though please, please stop suggesting places where I'd have to rent a car or travel between locations when already at the location !
yes, I'd love to see the Grand Canyon & parts of L.A. *kind-of* & this-or-that lake/shore/sight, they're all sight-distant locations that require travel-'tween and not very walkable-'tween sights )
ANYways... hope everyone's been Living Life & Enjoying Life as they've been able before Summertide ( at least, in the northern hemisphere ) complete disappates and leaves us in the cold - literally !

8/14 : no, voting today does NOT mean you won't have to vote in November. of course the presidency isn't on the ballot. your ignorance is showing.
8/14 II : *whew* new(er) delivery driver kind of a crazy fellow - carried my entire order up in his arms today ( and I ordered a couple weeks worth of stuff - plus extra due to upcoming daughter weekend )... kinda glad they couldn't fill all of the heavier stuff due to shortage ...(wow)
8/15 : [a-hole strides up ranting how he should be allowed to re-elect obama]
and I made a 3$ bill this mornin' with his face on it
"OH, and why 3$, smart guy?"
my buck-and-a-half for each time that POS was elected
[grunts and glares, rushing off like he's going to be ill]
8/21 : everyone so often you meet that someone that reminds you of the joke about the idiot who walked into a bar, saw a group of hugely muscular guys wearing 'Polish Pride' shirts, and starts "hey, did you hear the one about the dumb polack who..."
