summer doesn't last long enough in these norther-lands, after the 8-9 months of wintertide that feels like bleedin' forever
it passes so fast, workweek, weekends, & the rare time off seem to speed by so quickly
although we still get the helldays of cool, if not outright cold *sighs*
techwise, just as I'm startin' t'get used t'Cronenberg and its smrtphone ways, Romero the PC is startin' t'give up the ghost... shuttin' down at odd intervals and for no noticable reason *sighs*
not that it's a new machine - far from it - but it's long surpassed its warranty, let alone lifespan, I'm assuming :(
so, aye, I gave in and ordered a new PC which should be arriving in less than a week...
as I've been asking elsehwere : Any name recommendations for Romero's replacement?
this AM I've been pondering and came up with Argento, Coscarelli, Yuzna, Fulci, Raimi, or Hooper - what to fit in with the theme of Romero and its bretheren ( Savini, Craven, Cronenberg ... )
personally I'm ( currently ) up with Argento, unless anyone has a ponderance or recommendation otherwise...
after my watchband broke mayhaps a month or so ago, now a mere week ago or so my fitbit band also broke *growls*
so I've been watchless and fitbit-less... quite annoying, when I've been used to wearing something for years
( it was weird enough spending a few weeks only wearing the fitbit )
but... when I ordered the new PC I also ordered some fitbit bands, so hopefully they work and that resolves that issue
I still have to find a new watch somewhere - my wrists are... odd/a bit off ( probably due to having broken both in my mid-teens )
...so not all watches fit quite right - that and I've still got pretty thin wrists, so big-ass dials are no-go
it looks like some bad comedy routine when I try to wear "normal"-size men's watches - huge dials on bony jutting wrists that slide down my arm constantly *eep* :(
I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do on my next/last vaca of the year...
June 29th-July 6th, it's just me, myself, and I - which can be good or bad, depending
I'm pondering renting a vehicle again, but not sure if the expense is worth if without something to do/somewhere to go...
if I do go, this trip I'd want to remain in-state but north-bound a bit - which would make it slightly harder sleeping in-vehicle, but I've done it before
( albiet not in as warm of weather, so I'd be a mite more sweaty than usual )
and I know that travel around the 4th tends to suck, at least around here, which would ( obviously ) be the starting point - unless I "got out" early enough
lakes areas would probably be fairly hellish as well travel-wise... depending *shrugs*
- s'been years since I've taken time around the 4th off, even more years since I left the Cities around the 4th
s'gettin' closer, so just might want to decide soon, yeh... and I know I won't get as good a deal as I had on the Southbound Trip
ANYways - I'm hoping weather is semi-decent on Satyr's Day, since I'll be walking and/or cabbing-it to the nearest America's Best for eye exam and glasses
since my go-to pair died just before my roadtrip ( frame pretty much disintregrated and lens fell right out )
...and my back-up pair has been scratched to hell for years - I got 'em both at the same time, so same prescription, even though I have no idea what it is/was
the place I went to last changed ownership and names and now requires insurance, so even though they're a lot closer, they're out :(
and since it's been 5 or 6 years ( maybe longer? ), it's probably time for new pairs anyways, neh ?
I'm fairly certain my eyes have changed again - the last two times I got glasses it changed substantially in the time between
( that's what I get for not wearing glasses in my 20s and 30s - to a point where I couldn't even see a car-length in front of me most of the time...
blame it on the then-wife for forcing me to [finally?] get glasses... and now being completely dependant upon them !
...seriously, I can't even see a car-length away without them now *deep sigh* )
aaaand... that's all I've got, even after weeks of no weekly posting(s)
I never did say I was exciting, did I, my Lovelies and Gentlefolk ?
...and, yes, I am still writing daily poetica - despite the couple of Roadtrip 'glitches' that threw off the dailies
here's hoping your world is Wonderful and Warm ! <3 :D
twittage ::
5/6 : maybe I shouldn't laugh, but hearing people complaining on the news about how many 'alcoholic incidents' there were last night... be honest, it's a drinking holiday - and, really, that's it. it's not widely celebrated nor national/international - it's just an "excuse" to drink
5/6 II : I know I can't be the only one that thinks it's instantly amazing... and completely and utterly gorgeous... when a woman stretches - automatic +10 to attractiveness and engagingly eye-catching/impossible to look away !
5/6 III : appears that several good neighbours moved out in the past month, including a retired fisherman who also walked every day ( even winter! ) I'd been talking for years now & was neighbour to the kick-ass retired neighbour that moved out a couple years ago due to health issues :(
5/6 IV : somebody's car backfired at the intersection at the same moment someone bicycling across the street fell - making it look for a moment as if it was a gunshot *smirks* ...maybe the bicyclist was distracted by the backfire?
5/8 : 70° at 5:30a ? Helsyeh!... unfortunately it won't get much warmer today - AND it'll probably be a day of rain *sighs* - oh, well, gotta take the good with the bad, neh ?
5/11 :maybe you shouldn't conduct surveys stoned ::
...darlin', you've talked to me before
"I'd just like a moment to talk about [mj] legalization"
if you're willing to talk about state & federal regulation and under the influence laws relating to it
"uhm... have we talked before?"
5/15 : when life gives you lemons, you shoot that dastard but DEAD, y'hear ? for we don't take kindly to strangers in these parts, particularly if they're handin' people sour hybrids of bitter orange and citron without even taking into consideration local horticultural laws !
5/17 : Any name recommendations for Romero's replacement ( should be here within a week ) ?? ...his 'brethren' include Savini ( laptop ), Craven ( roku ), Cronenberg ( smrtphone ), & ... e-cel ( flip cel-phone ) - obviously I kind of have a theme going :)
5/17 II : potential new PC names : Argento, Coscarelli, Yuzna, Fulci, Raimi, & Hooper - no recommends from anyone ( yet ), but thought of these potentials at work... I'm leaning towards Argento - anyone think otherwise ?
