aye, the media gets us all worked up and those already on the edge are pushed and snap in their blissless ignorance and *WHAM* the media has a new show and the cycle continues
even I get caught up oftimes - but it's the purposeful ignorance and hypocritical hatred that irks me, mostly
I know a few who get it - a few wonderful friends of varying calibres, faiths, ethnicities, and fashion styles - and I love them dearly, even if some of them have absolutely no inkling that this sentence pertains to them.
but the majority are just like THE majority, those acquaintances that follow without thinking, that believe without research, that complain without trying, that explain without learning... and refuse to admit they're wrong.
I've been wrong - and I gaurantee I'll be wrong again someday.
It happens.
and when I'm shown to be wrong, I'll admit it - and apologize, if necessary.
hells, I'll grovel if she's worth it ;)
I'll probably draw the line at kowtow - unless she's wearing a trenchcoat and nothing else, to which I gaurantee nothing
but there be beauty out there, my lovelies and gentlefolk, beauty and wonder and amazing things to learn... and maybe forget... but at least it'll feel good for awhile
and that's all it really takes and that's all one really needs
to feel good, even for just a moment a day
to see the good, even if just a glimpse
to taste the... well, ok, that's kinda dangerous territory after the prior trenchcoat mention, but you get my gist, I believe.
it's a lonely world for some of us, even as our world grows smaller and, yes, sometimes the members of our li'l world lessen
but whether we're alone out there or with someone beside us daily, the world IS pretty demn small
someone you know may know someone who knows someone else you know and *BAM* connectivity, baby!
...I'm not saying putting your friends and their friends into the same room is always gonna work, mind you
hells, putting just my friends into a room there's gonna be at least one battle beginning and it probably wouldn't be pretty
BUT... they ARE my friends, even if some are as different from each other as they could be
and not a one is perfect, which is exactly how I like it
hells, they put up with me, so that is sayin' somethin', ain't it?
yeah, some may not have seen me in a few yrs, a decade, a couple or even several decades in the case of some that've come out of the woodwork recently
...but they remember me, somehow - whether that's good or bad, who knows
( and what they remember, well, gods only know ;) )
nonetheless, it's amazing how insane the world can be - yet how simple and wonderful we can make it, if we try...
on Thursday I grit my teeth and dove into the pain-temps and snowfall to do a li'l grocery hunt to re-stock some necessities
( and get a quick bite to eat, as HyVee is so wonderful a place to do both )
and, by gods, I love that place
THE friendliest, most helpful people there - including a few that are recognizing this ol' fool
and that's all I needed to feel pretty good the rest of the day
just from one silly li'l grocery hunt to a store with excellent employees
...which leads to friendly, smiling customers as well ( those that aren't utterly hardened or bitter, as there will always be those )
a rarity in this passive-aggressive faux-nice state in which I dwell, honestly, but I've delved into that bitter barrel before...
this post is to simply let you know you CAN find a way to make your day brighter and spread the warmth to others the same
and any bare trenchcoated lovelies need a place t'warm up, I'm sure I can find somewhere for you, too ;)
farethee well for now!
a smattering of this week's twits::
11/21 :
actually got a phone call from my fathre while he was en route to heading on vacation... call cut out a few times, but was still nice :)
11/22 :
people on me for not celebrating xmas - but their not celebrating other belief's holidays "isn't the point" & "isn't a real holiday" >:(
11/24 :
yes, I have spent the entire day feeling like I got hit by a truck, barely able to breathe, and using up boxes of kleenex *sigh* - and you?
11/26 :
happy holiday-type thingy to those that celebrate!
boring here, but contemplating braving pain weather to hit HyVee (verified open 'til 2p)
ok - got my list of what I need written down and warming up my "hot hands" for the trip to HyVee ... now to get my layers on :)
11/26 II :
HyVee is now, unquestionably, THE place with the friendliest, most helpful employees of anyplace I've been to... the ones that remember me will even stop to ask how things are, how my daughters are (if they were brought up before), or just to talk :)
the totally excellent moment of today's visit ::
"hey again, good man, did anyone ever tell you you look like Ringo Starr?"
yes, actually
(to their co-worker) "this is that always-nice customer I was talking about"
