So I never really set goals at the start of every year to be honest. Never really been the whole "new year, new me" kind of person. However, the other day I was at my mums house going through my old things and I found my Dita Von Teese book. It kinda made me think about the sort of dream I had when I was a kid and how much I looked up to Ms. Von Teese. So looking through and reading this again I've started setting myself some.
I think I was about 8 when I first a photo of Dita Von Teese. At that point I was listening to a lot of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, thanks to the taste in music my older brother had. I saw a photo of Manson and Von Teese's wedding, and I instantly started searching her on the family computer and printing out photos of her to decorate my room. She was my first introduction to the worlds of Burlesque and Fetish.
When I was fifteen I saved up and brought her book Burlesque and the Art of Teese / Festish and the Art of Teese.
The cute thing about the book that flipped one way it's sparkles and beautiful feather fans, Dita's stories about her costumes and performances. Her classic make up and corset designers.
But flipped the other way it's Dita's first experiences with foot fetishes and her top teen fetish parties all wrapped up in rope and leather with some latex here and there.
I think it was reading this as a teenager that really helped me see and express two sides of my sexuality. Trying to be respectful to myself and classy, but also experiencing and learning about my kinks. Reading about Dita's life and looking through all her work over the years was truely inspiring. Whilst educating me with what a goo pair of stockings entails.
It was because of Dita I wanted to start modelling. It took a lot work through my insecurities and start SG, but looking at Dita and the girls on here I pushed through and I'm so glad I did. My next challenge is moving from shoots to a stage, I would love to start getting in to burlesque like Ms. Von Teese. So I guess that's goal for 2016. Hoping that during this time I can also start getting into costume making, whilst I still have access to the equipment at my Fashion school. Because daaamn I would love to start learning how to make corsets.
Another goal for this year, with the help of my partner, start modelling Shibari. Playing with bondage is a much loved hobbie of mine, but I want to start getting into more difficult knots and positions. Not only that I would love to have a set, maybe not even for Members Review just an album, with some light pretty knot work like below;
So I'm hopefully gonna try and stick to working towards this over the year, explore some more classic influences💕
