Today was an awesome day at one of my smaller elementary schools, which helped alleviate the horrible fucking mood I was in yesterday.
I didn't get to teach any classes, but I got to sit in on Japanese, math, and social studies classes. Kanji practice was cool, I learned how to incorporate some of the simpler kanji I already know into some more difficult ones. In math I got my ass kicked in an addition drill by 4th graders, it was embarrassing. Social Studies was the best-- We got to grind uncooked rice(kome) into rice flour(kumogi). You can use the rice flour to make kind of a gooey treat called dango, or rice cakes called kashi.
Sometimes I can't believe I actually get paid to hang out with kids and do stuff like this.
