Ember, Sash, and Mary all have new sets. Awesome.
It's been a while since my last post and I've definitely broken the promise to update this journal more frequently. Oh well.
I went to Asheville for New Year's and had a blast. It's a really nice town with some really nice shops. I went to a place called Heiwa Shokudo. I have to say, that was the tastiest meal I have ever eaten. I've eaten some pretty good food, but this place tops it. I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was, but it was fantastic. I had a ginger steak-type plate with bean sprouts. I actually ate almost the whole meal using chopsticks (my first time!) and I kept up with everyone who had used them before. All in all, I had an awesome time in Asheville.
Well, you guys every get that feeling that everybody else is moving at the speed of light in their lives, but you remain stagnant? I know that I'm moving forward, but I can't help but feel like things are going far too slow for me. I find myself irritated with this feeling of hopelessness. Far too many times have I tried to define a goal for my life, such as the attainment of certain items; it doesn't happen that way. Why do I chase after certain things, knowing that they are just that, items?
Ever hear a song that absolutely transports you to somewhere else? Sometimes I'll hear a song that I have and it reminds me of a certain time period in my life or it makes me really want to travel. I remember sometimes in college I would look out the window on the top floor of the library and lights off in the distance. I remember thinking to myself, "I want to go to where those lights are." Of course I'm sure that "those lights" weren't ridiculously far away, but it still always felt like that. Some songs I'll hear and think back to a period in my life that I remember fondly while others will take me back to a time that I don't want to remember, not that it was horrible, but I would just rather NOT think about the time period. I don't know how any of you guys out there feel about these songs, but they make me think of traveling or past times:
Cake - Distance
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
Creedance Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son
Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
Led Zeppelin - D'Yer Mak'er
The Animals - The House Of The Rising Sun
Metallica - Astronomy (cover)
Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
Muse - Knights Of Cydonia (thanks Sam!)
The White Stripes - We Are Going To Be Friends
There are plenty more, but I'm not going to find and post the names of all of them.
These are the kind of songs that give me goosebumps when I hear certain parts of them or sometimes the entire song. I know some are weird, but hey, these are what do it for ME.
What other profound things have I discovered? Hmm oh yeah! Something I'm sure everyone is already familiar with is the lack of intelligent comments on YouTube videos. Seriously people, learn how to properly speak since your typing is actually you speaking on the internet. I'm not an English major, but I have a basic idea of how to speak. Please stop ending a sentence with "lol." That is all.
