What lengths would people go to to get what they desired the most?
Got a disturbing call tonight while at work, Laura, my G/F rang telling me someone tried to break into the house..while she was at home might I add... So, I had to panic finish my assays, have a decontamination shower, then sprint on back across town to keep her sane and safe!
So this got me thinking.. I'd be pissed off if someone pinched my stuff.. but I'm also flattered! it means someone thinks my stuff is worthy enough for them to pinch! By the way, it's a very cold, shitty horrible winters day here! So they must have been keen!
My house isn't really the kind worth breaking into if your looking for something quick to flog off... Ours is a house full of very unique (and freaking expensive!) music gear... worse still would be if they tried to pinch Kane my other housemates guitars... he's left handed!! Good luck if they stole my flat panel TV... it doesn't work! same with the DVD's- My ex girlfrind trashed them! half of them barely work!
Even worse if they stole my gear and took it to the music shop! it's very customised, the sales guys would know my stuff in an instant (not to mention seeing them take it, all heaviy and roadcased! they'd get halfway up the drive way and give up I reckon!)
It got me thinking about this trap of consumerism that were stuck in.. Everyone want's the newest, greatest, best things! ! (I'm guilty too- I just apply it in the delusion that one day I'll be a rock star!) In Australia here the country owes like $30 billion on credit cards... not bad for a country of 20 million people.. Oh and all the easy financing on everything, 500 days interest free etc.. Yet we have had a severe downturn in the commerce sector when it comes to sales of goods..
But I digress.. The question on my mind..
