As I was heading home today I passed a movie theater along the way. On the big digital board they had the current movies listed and number one was, of course, the new 007 flick. (Saw it on Friday and while not as much character development as Casino Royale the action was killer!)
A lot of people died, stabbed to death, pools of blood, threat of torture, many many people shot or dead in various explosions, girl drowned in oil, attempted rape.....
and the movie was a PG-13.
however, I'm confident that if just ONE pair of boobs were shown (and the flick had less than 1/2 the violence) it would have garnered a R.
This is something that has driven me freakin nuts for some time...how this country thinks ugly, deplorable violence is fine as long as there arent any tits on screen. The hell is wrong with people?
I think it was said best actually by Hef when he first wrote the Playboy philosophy back when he started the magazine. He said:
"It was disconcerting when we first discovered that many of those who consider nudity and obscenity nearly synonymous often drag God's name into the act -- this struck us, and strikes us still, as a particularly blatant bit of blasphemy. The logic that permits a person to call down God's wrath on anyone for displaying a bit of God's own handiwork does, we must admit, escape us. If the human body -- far and away the most remarkable, the most complicated, the most perfect and the most beautiful creation on this earth -- can become objectionable, obscene or abhorrent, when purposely posed and photographed to capture that remarkable perfection and beauty, then the world is a far more cockeyed place than we are willing to admit."
Well put I feel.

No, I haven't seen Serenity but I intend to! It's sad that they didn't continue Firefly. So many good shows get canceled while dumbass crap shows continue!!
