I moved to Comcast Center today. I brought my RAID over, it was a lot heavier than I thought (along with other miscellaneous items). I walked through Suburband Station with it all, I think a couple people thought I was carrying a bomb or something. Whatever. I walked right past a police officer and all he did was nod politely.
At the moment I'm watching 500-something GB of data copy from the RAID, over SCSI, to one of the new workstations (dual quad-core ftw!) which is transferring everything to the SAN over single-channel fibre. We are seriously now in the future.
We also have vending machines. But it was probably cheaper at the Eckerd/Rite Aid on the corner than here.
My reusable joke is now "I hope I don't go to the other building on Monday morning by mistake." Hur hurr. It's not even funny to me any more, but I need to make small talk.
It smells like new over here. And not like thirty years of video production work. Give it time, I'm sure it won't take long. Unless some of that smell was from switchers and consoles from the 70s, which is highly possible. I'm already getting used to the comfortable climate, my old "office" felt like 80 all the time.
I'm just killing time at this point.
Oh, the best part: We have plenty of shelves. Before I had nothing, now I can put my shit somewhere! Amazing!!
Tomorrow I'll be in NJ. Again. I haven't been home in Philly for the whole weekend in a long time.
