Trying a new approach to life this year. Starting this month, I'm trying to stay ahead of the curve. I sat down, filled out a detailed budget of all our bills. I'm keeping a running total of every dollar we spend, and where it's going. So far so good. We have a lot of extras to pay this month, so I will have to be...

My cheapo suggestion is soup, soup, and more soup. Tons of veggie options, plus it's filling. And the large amount of liquid makes it a good weight loss choice.

Yesterday was a really rough day. I'm a weekly volunteer in my son's classroom. It's important to me to be involved in his schooling, and I know that teachers need all the help they can get. While I was there, he was called out of the room, up to the office. The teacher told me it was nothing to worry about, that he had a...

While I believe strongly that there should be systems that take care of actual social problems I also believe that those systems should be better implemented. What I mean is that sometimes they should just keep their noses out of other people's business. Especially when it comes to raising children. There is no manual for that, so bureaucratic and systematic bs tends not to work so well.

Thought I saw you at the bout the other night, but only as you went out the door. Large beardy guy and two kids? I would have chased you down and said hello but I was kinda on the track floor because I wanted to talk to a dame who I may or may not have a bit of a crush on. I admit nothing. blush

Oh I think it'll be a good time. I'll be happier when I get a time ironed out with her. That stitches n' bones is a real kick-ass gal.

I'm blissfully excited. I got an e-mail this morning from OSU.smile

We are pleased to inform and congratulate you on your admission to Oregon State University!smilesmilesmilesmile

Yes, that's right. I'm in, I'm officially a university student, and I start classes April 2. Now I just have to work out my financial aid, and talk to my advisor about what classes I need to take.

And...

Any of the brewpubs in town are pretty kid-friendly during the daylight hours.

Here's a little activity tonight that will be kid friendly and a good time.

I'm a bit of a mountain man myself. Which explains the flannel, massive beard, and Rogue cap.

Heading out this morning to the Open House at OSU. I'm horribly nervous and excited. It's a crazy feeling going back to school as a "grown up". I'm going to be surrounded by a bunch of high school students doing their college tour. I'm worried I'll stick out. I'm terrified of not fitting in. And I know that most of it is in my own...

Come to this.

As for school, I wouldn't worry about it. It's pretty easy to get into OSU.

Tomorrow is going to be a fantastic day. Today, is gonna be bumpy and rough with lots of hard work. We're almost finished hanging the drywall in the shed we're converting to a spare bedroom. It's been rough, cranky work so far. The shed is crooked, and mickey moused, and altogether a pain in the arse. Not a single plumb line in the place. The...

If you come visit my house, and bring your own food because you're vegan and don't trust me to provide, and I tell you, repeatedly, to make sure all bread is up on top of the refrigerator because the animals will eat it, and you leave it on the ground, or on the kitchen table, don't bitch when my animals eat it. Seriously, I warned...

Well, the blackberry wine we've been brewing for the last two weeks appears to be a success. Just racked her over to the secondary and stole a taste. Can't wait to see what she's going to taste like after aging a little. Very excited!miao!!
snakeplissken:
The question is can you let it age? If I had a nickel for every batch I drank up before it was prime aged I'd have a shitload of nickels. We're gonna have to grab a beer when I get my next free day. Block 15 has a really good oktoberfest beer right now. I'm pretty much a sucker for that style. I guess I likes it malty.

Feeling down and lonely today. My oldest has been on a tantrum cranky fest the last few days. He's way past ready to go back to school. I try to help him, but some days I just can't seem to get through. It's frustrating, and I really just want to get away for a couple hours. But the car has no gas till payday tomorrow,...

If I ever get a day off of work we'll have to have a beer at Block 15. It's worth the trip.

Happy day. Called up my son's best friend's mom and met for lunch at the park, then he came over to spend the night. Got to talking to his mom about my skin issues. She has some similar pain related issues and uses a cannibis oil to control the pain. She let me try some, and low and behold, my arm feels significantly better. Looks...

Hubby is excitedly looking up all kinds of recipes so I don't have to smoke anything. He's thinking caramels......

That would be good. Or make a tincture and have a mixer. Lots of options. (psst, commenting back in my journal is the custom.)

Today has been a rough day. I'm in the middle of a fairly major flair of what I can only refer to as all over skin pain. Feels like the worst sunburn ever, only I haven't been in the sun, and my skin hasn't changed color. I've been getting episodes like these for about 5 years now. They come and go in cycles. Haven't had...

Today is all about getting the house clean and making some yummy treats for our friends who are coming down from Battleground. Got the kitchen all spotless, so now it's time to start on the cheesecake (which really isn't a cake at all, but a pie) and homemade hamburger buns. Yummy dinners coming tonight.

Really looking forward to having some company today. It gets a...

*HUGS*!!!!!!!X333 Thanks so much for the comment on my blog! kiss

You're so, so, so, so, SO right. Your comment about made me cry! Thank you SO much; seriously, that's the BEST advice I've heard. THANK YOU. kiss *HUGS*

Here's hoping I DO find that amazing man.

PS: CHEESECAKE!!!!!! YUM!!!! Jealous! That dinner sounded amazing!!!

sox88:
You're so very welcome hon. I've been there, more times than I like to count. Just know, you are worth it.

And yes, the cheesecake was nummy, although it went a little wonky and grainy this time. We have to practice making it a few more times to get it perfect. Hamburgers were awesomely delicious though. I'm one of those girls who likes to season my meat before I make patties. It really makes a HUGE difference. All in all, dinner was a slamming success.

Even the picky kid likes my burgers. We surprise his mom every time they come over for dinner, he eats whatever we cook and likes it. At home they can't even get him to try stuff! Must be our mad cooking skill!

Learning to ride a bike. So far I've made two attempts. The first time I was able to keep the bike up for short distances, but had a lot of difficulty with the turns. I stayed out for about half an hour before the pain in my shoulders made me quit. Today I went out for about 15 minutes. I managed to get through several...

I was married once upon a time a zillion years ago. My wife, who was a classmate at a science and math high school, and who went to Princeton, et cetera:

* Had never masturbated
* Didn't know how to ride a bike

I'm not sure which was stranger.
sox88:
I certainly get a lot of weird looks and disbelief when I tell people that I never learned how to ride a bike.
