What's up people smile

Just thought I would share the latest drawing with everyone. biggrin

I had a helluva lot of fun painting this one. I actually started working on it weeks ago but got sidetracked as I often do. Ah well, getting back to it has made for a great weekend.

I love this time of year.

A beautiful late October day outside, great music blasting...

you're welcome! I usually have to tinker with my images after they're computer loaded to try and portray them as accurate as possible. This looks great though!!! I can't wait to see more! I usually leave the hands for last as well lol, they're a bitch. Stick with painting!!! You're a natural!!!
tarion:
Wow that is really beautiful!!

Whats up people!

Been a while.
Seems i've been so busy lately O_o

But i've finally gotten around to the next SG study biggrin

In the interest of getting out of my comfort zone and learning something new, I tried out a new medium....oils, for the first time in my life! I've always wanted to try them.

My respect for painting, and oil painting in particular...

Souci - lol digging through my sketchbooks I notice that about 90% of the figures have no hands or feet >_< man I gotta get to work on that...

talamia - One of my favorite sets on SG! love

VastPalette - Thank you for the camera tips! I'll try that out later today. I guess I had this idea built up in my head that oils would be so difficult that I shouldn't touch them until i'm proficient with drawing and value and other such excuses. I let myself be intimidated by the idea of them haha. That and the initial cost seemed high for all the materials. But I recently inherited a badass easel that belonged to my grandma, who bought it in the Philippines back in the 60's! Score. She also got me a basic set of oils after seeing how excited I was over the easel.... life was kinda screaming at me to finally pick the damn things up I guess lol

Clean up is pretty straight forward, I'm using low odor Turpenoid to clean the brushes and I made a disposable palette by wrapping kitchen parchment paper around some cardboard (with a piece of white paper under the parchment to make the colors pop) and I just toss the parchment paper after the session.

The weirdest things is how long they stay wet and mix on the canvas O_o

Give em a try!

Elliott - Trust me. This isn't exactly a breeze for me! lol Most of the color I used because that's what came out rather than what I was trying to mix lol, you should try them! They are so satisfying.

Thanks for stopping by everyone smile

Just wanted to share some words of wisdom and beauty that have helped me to clarify my goals in the past, and continue to remind me of whats important through times of stress and doubt.

"I am in a process of transformation, despite myself. Even with a clear understanding of God as Change, I sometimes fight and resist the changes that are essential to my...

banana and pepper are my favorite! I think you did fabulous for being as "rusty" as you claim wink. The figure drawing group sounds exciting, hope you can get into that! Looking forward to your next SG drawing!
saint:
You might think you're rusty but yo skills are BOMB!

So lately i've been feeling like I spend too much time practicing from photographs and not enough time at all practicing from life. So I set up the obligatory still life tonight with the usual fruits and veggies people draw/paint and goddamn!

This thing is kicking my artistic ass.

I can draw beautiful naked women all day long no problem and yet a green pepper,...

Dude! Looking brilliant!
I too have a really hard time drawing from life, there's something about three dimentional objects that is just really fucking hard. That said nothing helps improve your drawing skills than life drawing. So good on you!! biggrin x

My old art teacher always said if you can't fall asleep after ten minutes, just give up and do some artwork... at least you'll get something done!
