I just recently released a self-published book of poetry. It's a compilation of poems written over a span of about ten years of my life, during high school and the first few years of my adulthood, while I traveled across the country. I was raised as a very conservative Christian, and the first struggle of my life was leaving my religion and finding my true identity. I haven't shared almost any of these with anyone, because it is so much easier to hide than to be honest. I want to encourage others to be honest with themselves and others, and recognize that we don't have to be what society says is "beautiful" to be successful.
