I am not buying Borderlands 2 and not because I don't want to play the game.
I have been a gamer on and off for the last thirty years. I did have about a ten year break after an unfortunate seriers of efforts regarding a Microsoft release that had me playing some silly game that I flew a space ship inside a mine. This was searching for a bug. It only happened when a new game was played for 25 minutes straight. Try as I might the only way I could get the bug to hit was ... new, play for thirty minutes. If the bug was there then it crashed at 25 minutes taking the pc down. If I got to 30 minutes the bug wasn't there.
The bad news was every other build had or did not have the bug. So evey stinking day I had to play the game because we had a new build. Almost everyday anyway. After the OS shipped I quit gaming for nearly a decade. Flying a space fighter in a mine? That is what all this graphical and processing power had gotten us to? I was so out of there.
So why am I complaining now? Because I am not buying Borderlands 2.
2K, Borderlands publisher, is playing games that I am sick of.
I have about $100+ in Borderlands and don't regret it. I bought the game, the DLC and then the game of the year (GOTY) edition for my other console.
On Sunday I could have bought B2 for $60, got the Mech-something-ancer for a pre-order bonus. And then buy a season pass for $30. For $90 you got a $60 and four $10 DLCs. The only thing you saved was the $10 you got for buying a discounted anyway season pass. I could have gotten it through Amazon with a $10 credit into an Amazon purchase. But, I didn't know if I could play with my friends on Steam. They even are charging $60 on the PC. The consoles have to pay a console tax to MS or Sony of $10 but we pay the same price on a PC? Really? The $10 savings? It is balanced with the release of the Mech-whatever on Oct 16 for $10. Great.
Additionally GameStop, who I have used in the past, has an exclusive feature that is only available via GameStop. Can one play with Steam players with that? Don't know, couldn't find out. Their exclusive feature pays out XP and loot which is pay to win to me.
Several solutions which basically allow pay to win in at least one scenario and having to read pre-purchase bonus packages for several retailers to see which one I should buy from.
I no longer buy from Activision (Bobby K is a Kreep), Ubisoft (DRM Nut Jobs), EA (You're Mother Will Hate This Game for Dead Space 2, then the whole Mass Effect 3 bit) and now 2K.
How can I say this to 2K? I am so out there.
There are very few places on the web I care much about. SG is one of them.
