Saturday, when i walked into the door from a long day of work, i was met with news that a good friends step mother ( whom also took me in as a step son 6 years ago with the lunacy between my own mother and myself) passed away in her sleep that afternoon. I quickly collected my friend and drove her to her fathers house in Elkhart Indiana.
Tom and Martha have always been good to me after i stopped talking to my mother 6 years ago, even allowing me to stay with them during two hoxkey tournaments in South Bend. Martha would always bake or cook when i would visit, sometimes unannounced. She was an exceptional woman with a deep loving heart. She was an incredible step mother to Samantha for 30 years loving her as if she was her own daughter. Her laughter and warmth will be missed.
It also made me realize that after seeing her just two weeks ago, you can never take for granted saying hello, talking endlessly with, nor saying goid bye to anyone because life is fleeting and can be gone with little notice nor fanfare.
Cherish the time we have together dear friends. Apriciate everything big or small because it is all a gift for both you and another. Leave the world better than you found it, leave a smile where a frown once stood, and leave a heart lighter by sharing the heaviness of life. Peace and love my friends
