my gram had a stroke in 1996. she was stubborn and didnt go through proper rehab and was basically a BLOB, depending on my pap the entire time, living about 75miles from the rest of the family at our "summer home" which was their residence after pap's retirement.
one year, she fell on him walking on the sidewalk and broke his FEMUR in a spiral break. nasty for him.
recently, she was walking over a threshold and her bad foot caught the ledge, and she fell... ultimately having the ball of her hip break THROUGH the plate. now shes on all kinds of drugs that havent set well with her, and shes having symptoms of althsheimers (sp?). and ODing on pain pills (what the FUCK!?!?!?). in a home. sucks. since being there, dad said that shes lost about 60 pounds (she was a BIG woman). i dont think i'd want to see her if i was living in the same state as them and has the ability to see her personally.
so trust in the fact that i KNOW where you are coming from. my gram is a rock in my family... and shes just not with us anymore. she hasnt been "given" an 'x' period of time to live... but we dont see it being mroe than a year.
so this xmas, the entire family (her 5 kids, their spouses, and their 10 grandchildren... me being the oldest) will go to camp for christmas eve to give them the gift of family in the woods together for the first and last time... a gift that means more because of the fact of it than anything else.

I've played with some relatives of your kids. My fav longarm so far (and I won't fukkin spell it right) was a .308 galile. Ireali infantry longarm. 200 yard gong with iron sights. man I coulda hit that all day long with no effort. good times.
