Nice, Seattle.
This is Seafair! If you do not know, Seafar is a celebration of the city of Seattle. It has been going on for about a month, and has about a week left. It is not new, it was around long before Seattle was the chic, fasionable city. When I was there, San Diego and Vancouver BC were the fashionable cities. San Diego has great weather. Seattle and Vancouver have Sasquatch. For my money, that is a wash.
I knew Seafar lasted awhile. For me, it was always about unlimited hydroplane racing on Lake Washington, and the Blue Angels. From what I understand, the Blue Angels are no longer flying, I have alse heard that Seattle came through with some private perfomance jets. On the island where I lived I remember the Angels flying overhead, very low and incredibly fast. the thunderboats practicing before the races.
The one thing I always wanted to add was a huge fireworks show to end Seafair. Maybe there is one now. Ask the Microsoft and Amazon millionaires on the shore of Lake Washington facing Seattle to set that up on thier private beaches. Give back, Mercer Island!
Also, this Sunday, Shark Week starts. I have never really been that interested, but I like the tag line for the adverstisments. "It's a bad week to be a seal. It's pretty awesome for the rest of us."
Nice, Shark.
