Whew am I mad at the world today. And since I have yet to share anything with SG during 2011 I figured I'd tell you guys what has got me so angry, in blog format.
Did you guys know that the rich are getting richer, while the poor remain poor? Obviously, that's no secret to anybody. The fact is though that the separation of wealth has grown so terrible over the years that the difference between the top 10% of the wealth and the other 90% is horrifying. Ever since the 80's when Reagan was president, there was this idea of a trickle down economy. Let the rich have tax breaks so they hire more people and spend more money on the economy. This has clearly worked out wonderfully considering the US doesn't produce goods anymore and the unemployment rate has kept rising over the years. What's really been happening is the opposite of the trickle down economy, it's been a siphoning economy, where those in the top 10% possess the wealth and abilities to support the lower and middle class. Instead, it has been the lower classes duty to support the rich by working the jobs that feed the wealthy their income and profits.
There's some good visual data to look at: Wealth and Inequality
The other thing that has driven me nuts is the worry of another Chernobyl incident happening in Japan. It ain't gonna happen, even if the reporters with little knowledge of how a nuclear reactor works say it will, it's not gonna happen. Let the nuclear physicist and engineers worry about the reactor, we should be worrying about those who weren't protected by thick lead walls.
So now that I got some venting done, next blog, I'll find us something positive to think about.
