Well,
Just checking in. Life is acceptable these days...
I'm working at a major Boston rock club 4 nights a week, playing there with my trio 2 nights a month, paying my rent and living in my cool little room in Somerville, 10 min. out of Boston. A pretty nice existence.
I am however, having NYC withdrawal symptoms. I've always been a city boy and...

The show last friday night was eventful. Lot's of nice listeners and a recording made. Wacky guitar music.
Almost all moved into my new place.

2 Fucking hilarious things I found while perusing SG..

1. You should look @ the photo Gia posted on her Friday, April 22 Journal entry.

2. Lexie is the funniest SG I have found (No- not her looks; she's F'ing gorgeous..). Her journal entries I find to be rather amusing. She is a comedianne.

I need to decide to stay in Boston or move back to NYC to be abused.
>.Nn. whatever love

Been up in Boston from NYC now for 2+3/4 months. I must admit that I am finding myself more productive up here musically, simply because there's less static when it somes to being able to 'produce'. More gigs, more time to write and practice, not getting into brawls with muggers.
On the other hand, once you've lived for any substantial time in NYC, you become...

Just had a nice time on the chat, meeting 'Aeryn' and 'X Obscure X'. I do so enjoy making new SG aquaintances.. (sp?).
Working on the trio still, but my bassist is flaking a little. Ah, the price we pay for talent. Whatever.. he's an artist like me.
Gotta get a PT day job soon to gather up more $$. Subsidizing art is a beee-otch....

Yeah I couldn't stop listening to it yesterday. You know how certain songs just weave themselves into everything you thinking and feeling and then you can't really seperate out whats you and whats them? Hmm does that make sense?

Funding for the arts the this country is pathetic- actually funding for a lot of really important things in this country is pathetic.
noah9:
Yup. Makes sense. Music is good that way- but since Pop invades like that if ingested too regularly, I buy jazz records (anything on 1950-'60's Blue Note) and record my own band or local bands I like live. I reccommend a portable DAT player or for less serious stuff a MD player.

Hiya
Having an attempt @ flipping my sleep schedule, as I tend to be a night person. Right; I know- I'm a musician... but I over do it. It'd be good to get more sun.
Tomorrow (today) I have a rehearsal with my trio. Should be excellent. Killing players. Gotta get ready to record and get the gear out to a couple of bookers. Gigs=moregigs=moregigs,...

A comment I started writing for my journal that mistakenly ended up in this section.. Certainly not meant as wise ass answer to the excellent Lily's above question- but conversely answers some of it..

Creativity flows and ebbs.
Being a 'non-mainstream' guitarist leaves one to his own devices. Not indy, punk, metal, emo, techno, pop, etc.. I'm just a player who tries to execute the shit as best I can. I can play almost anything you'd ask me to- (see above styles) but if you want the good stuff it'll be what I produce with my own trio. It'll encompass all of the styles you ask for, but I won't be wearing your favorite look. What does that make me?
With all that said, you might see me playing behind your favorite musician some day. But only if they don't mind my not wearing horn rimmed glasses, slicked to the side hair, a wool sweater and one-strap velcro sneakers.
