Ive read some good articles recently about the state of the globalized economy, its sad, really sad. Workers everywhere are getting screwed, here and abroad. And the problem is very real in north america too, I never really understood the impact of outsourced labour till i visited a family in who told me stories of the mass layoffs and their whole town suddenly becoming unemployed. At the same time, it seems like my family is grooming me for my place in the corporate business world, and it scares me to think I may become some suit, gettin rich of the misery of others. With tempting offers of cushy jobs and golden reference letters from affluent people, its scary. Im a pragmatist and ultimately see the posssibility but i also see more subversive possibilities. I would rather be some kind of thief or criminal genius, looting and plundering banks and armoured cars. I would happily live a criminals life, with henchmen in little matching outfits just like the villains in the old batman show. Me and my unsavory (but sexy) henchmen will steal the Orient Express and rob banks all over europe! Then I will retire in obscurity in my mountain chateau, until I expire infront of the hearth, alone, clutching an opium pipe with my withered hands. That would be awsome!
My point is this: Ive done some less than legal things in my life, and it was always the drive to get out, go legit, but then you think of the reality of legitimate business and its no real standard to go by. If we hold most business as a standard of an acceptable means of livelyhood then we really cant look down on any profession be it loanshark or jewel thief, assassin. I mean all the presidents of the US are guilty not only of the above mentioned crimes but of many more besides (well maybe not jewel theft, well maybe nixon). Criminals are everywhere, in offices and nice neighborhoods, at the spa, all kinds. So if you can get it while the gettin is good, go out there and hustle, after all a kid like me doesnt get very far without the hardworking criminals that supply good drugs, that throw fun parties, and who make the streets lively. Keep up the good work, I appreciate it.
And so begins my journey on the road to being a super villain!
If any of you have ever had any inklings of being a super hero, you may want to start training, the world may have need of you soon, at least if I have anything to do with it, hee hee.
So would you rather be a super villain or a super hero?
