If you haven’t picked up the new record by seminal stoner metal band Sleep. I suggest you do. It has some of the best riffs and some really great guitar solos. So fire up some weed and have a listen.
I have also been enjoying the new Ty Segall record Freedom’s Goblin. If your not familiar with Ty Segall’s music it is of the lofi garage rock variety. Tons of reverb and and straightforward good time rock. This album is the most produced Ty Segall record, which gives it a nice clean sound. It is also the first record where he has a full band.
The new Flatbush Zombies record is some serious fire. I have had it in my rotation since it came out. It’s got great beats by Erick the Architect. The Rhymes are really great as rappers Meechy Darko and Zombie Juice. Flow effortlessly over the Architects beats. Plus some great guest appearances by Bun B of UGK(R.I.P. Pimp C) fame, Jadakiss, Joey Bada$$ and a couple more Pro Era crew members. Hip-hop is alive and well in Brooklyn.
New band alert if you live in the Denver area and have the opportunity. Go see Bland Canyon(terrible name) but a great band. Featuring members of Native Daughters, Mako 1972, Zebroids, and Sugar Skulls & Marigolds. They play a muscular version of post hardcore with the main focus on power and melody. The guitars interplay with a delicate balance between melodic passages and crushing riffs. the rhythm section drives with intense force and the vocals are soaring. Plus they are great dudes
Today’s bum @effy is definitely babetastic! Be excellent to each other and Rock on!
