I am not a morning person; however, I have found that arriving at work prior to any of my colleagues helps me get through the day. You see nothing starts the day like a good amount of caffeine and some loud punk. I am able to listen to whatever I want as long as its at a reasonable volume during business hours, the way I...

I totally know what you mean - I like blaring loud old school punk (and electronica) in the lab, to the constant annoyance of my coworkers.

Thanks for the well-wishing, so far being an editor is fun but I'm looking forward to the time when I don't have to write everything myself - I think it won't require as much time then.

See you Friday!

It has been like a shit storm at the office today, I have not had a minute to breath. That is actually a good thing, considering work is displacing unpleasant thoughts that have been renting entirely too much space in my head for too long. Nothing can take your mind off a shitty situation like the necessity of making a living, not to mention doing...

I vote for better to have something fucked up. Seriously. At least it gives you something that you know you can work on. When you've got nothing.... all you've got is nothing.

And you're right, sometimes work can be good to clear out your mind. Just like going out with your friends and drinking, like this Friday.

Yep, dinner is definitely at 6. Glad to hear that you and Hellynn (and a third?) will be coming as well! It should be fun, it looks like there will be a good turnout, and the Burlesque show will be entertaining, I'm sure.

Consider yourself officially added to the dinner list. See you Friday!

Well, not much to respond to in this entry.

Hellyn said you were thinking of coming out to dinner before Burlesque - you should definitely come, it will be really fun. Let me know if you want to before Wednesday, that's when I'm going to make the reservation so I'm trying to get a firm headcount.

So I've been out of the office @ Linux world all week. I love going to training and conferences. I wish it was in a warmer climate, I am trying to get them to send me to the one in San Francisco in August. This one was not my idea, I need to stop going to these things in NY. I could use some vacation....

Free travel is such a huge bonus. Definitely worth taking advantage of when you have the chance. Although, to be honest, SF in August isn't that warm (go figure.) In late August or September it starts getting warmer, oddly enough October is usually the best time to go. But hey, a free trip to California is a free trip to California. wink

So I finally got my power book, I think Im in love. Truth be know I have no clue what to do with it, I am a Windoz user and am a bit confused. So back to work, I need another weekend. Well only four more days to go then three off., it could be worse. I have been so stressed lately; I need to find a way to relax more. Its not time thats lacking its just a way to actually relax, and avoid drama. I want to be drama free. I am trying to deal with issues...

As I said in an earlier post Ive been under the weather for the last week, so I went to the doctor and was told I may be intolerant to gluten (Wheat, Rye, Barley) and to cut them from my diet entirely. The diagnosis is not definitive at this point, we are still awaiting the results of some test he took. In addition to that...

Well I'm back to work after a being under the weather for the past few days. Actually, I think Ive been in the office about 4 days in the last 3 and a half weeks. There is so much work to be done. So I finally broke down and bought a power book, it was between the 12 and 15, I went for the 15...

Ugh... sorry about the gluten sensitivity thing. That really sucks, if it's true. Well, I guess all you can do is try the diet and see.

As for SGNY - my guess is, the last time you applied there wasn't anyone already in the group who knew you. You have to have someone vouch for you to be admitted. Now that Hellyn is in the group, and you've been to an SGNY party and met people, you should have no problem being accepted. So if you want, you should reapply. I'll vouch for you. wink

Yeah right, I was yelling so loud over the phone my neighbor came up to make sure I wasn't killing my roommate, hahha, I feel better now, thanks for the post, and welcome to the site. wink

Happy New Year to All!! Hope everyone had a happy holiday, whatever you may celebrate. Santa was pretty good to me, I got The Simpsons 3rd season, clothes, and some other cool stuff. In the spirit of the holiday season, I am thinking about buying myself a nice gift, namely a Mac. If anyone has any feedback on the following machine please let me know....

Actually, it's funny you bring up that point about technology, I just got to that section in the book. He shows a really interesting correlation between the average number of words in a sentence in the most popular books of the time and the time when at least 75% of the population owned a radio, telephone, television, and internet-capable computer. It seems like there's a significant decrease in the number of words (hence a shorter attention span) as the pace of our technology gets faster. The punchline is Tom Clancy, and he shows some pieces from his book Executive Orders where he's averaging like 5 words a sentence.
