So after getting laughed at by my roommate/landlord because I told him I'd given up on Scorched Earth for a bit.. he's all like you're odd... you say you want a challenge and yet the minute you have one you give up.
I'm like.. although sure I'm accused of that very often, I was tired and I'm suffering from mad allergies.
He's like I'll bring you to the pharmacy then. But I'm like no.. My eye is just reacting and I'll let it run its course and eventually it'll stop.
In the meantime I'm sleeping it off and trying to adapt my situation to Scorched Earth.
Part of it.. and I'm not sure why I bothered was testing to see if the game would run in stereoscopic VR. Meaning a shitbox Google Glass and reducing the game from 3600x1920 resolution to 1800 something x 1200 something.
That was to low and the network latency was also too high to make that work even with the reduced resolution.
I was a bit sad.. but the game no longer supports side by side stereoscopic 3D anyway so it was a lost cause. But then I noticed that the game doesn't take screenshots well.. that's probably because it supports Nvidia Ansel which means I can and have saved some 360 screenshots. I'll try to find a way to upload them.
I pushed it back up to 2304x1360 instead of the full 3600x1920 as it is the only other resolution available.
It works.
Something like a console level resolution across the 3 panels.
So in game I'm on Day 6.. and haven't survived a single day. Either because I'm on fire, and have no idea what causes it or how to clear that status so I die, or because the stupid raptors in the area want to murder me... but usually because it is just too hot during the day to survive even when I'm hiding in my thatch shelter. :/
But I'm leveling up and will soon be able to survive the heat of the day.
So I was starting to take more risks and have killed a few more larger dinos and at least 1 of the raptors.
I'd like to get the other 1 or 2 if there are two of them.. but if they'd leave me alone I might be able to build this shelter up.
I tamed 1 Ankylosaurus just because. It was kind of dicey since I didn't have narcotics until half way through the tame and barely completed the tame with 1 left because I kept dying. I suppose it is a waste to have tamed it because I won't be able to make a saddle for it for a long time.
I think my roommate assumes I was playing the vanilla game and so have some of the other world's engrams but I don't and so started fresh at level 1.
Which is the way I wanted it :) even though it is much harder than I expected.
So am I enjoying the DLC? Sure I guess.. but just too tired and want to rip my heart out too much to really care.
But as I play and see certain things in the game.. like preserving salts.. daylight not coming after the entire world goes black for a few minutes.. berries and hydration from a cactus when I harvest it.. The game has seen many improvements large and small.
