Microsoft's Insider Program has a new survey for PC gamers.
My response to the last question after dying of laughter at successively moronic questions like 15. What percentage of the games you own are from torrent sites? then they name some.
"None. Windows for PC Gaming has been garbage for years. It would be nice for Microsoft to start developing and publishing PC games OR to port games from Xbox to Windows. Given that Microsoft execs are waffling this issue I don't care about any games being ported through Play Anywhere. And as this hasn't happened I've given up on Xbox and switched to PS4. Even if Microsoft brought games to windows from Xbox they would be subject to the horrific trends of piracy and exploits which ruin gaming on PC. However as so many studios have closed and otherwise no longer exists after doing business with Microsoft, Microsoft Windows and the Windows Store has no meaningful effect on my purchasing habits regarding PC games. Either I will buy games from a reputable digital distribution etailer and content creation platform like Steam.. or have no choice but to buy games from Ubisoft or EA that are not offered anywhere else but on Windows."
Oh.. spoke too soon, 20 isn't the last question..
21. What OS changes would you want to see?
"After Xbox Launched and presented gamers with a cute dashboard I wondered why Microsoft never designed a dual boot option for gamers for Windows Xp Vista or Windows 7.
After Valve launched SteamOS, I wondered why Microsoft never provided a more bare bones session just for games. After the catastrophe that was Games For Windows Live.. still no option for strictly running games without all the bloated fluff garbage of Windows.
At some point it would be great for Microsoft to integrate all that is Xbox's UI (at this point it now also has so much bloat and garbage that it lags and fails to load games.) into a gaming dashboard session for Windows which cuts out ALL garbage apps and services that have nothing to do with games. OR relaunches a windows session with nothing but the signed game code and any services and features the devs specifically stipulate are required to run so that the game and only the game is running."
22. Do you play modified games.
FUCKING bastards! after the above comment I can't rightly say I don't play modded games because both Ark and the Sims apparently require mods. I staunchly refuse to play Ark with mods.. but can't possibly play The Sims without them. Studio Wildcard is extremely open to mods but additionally they incorporate mods into the game such that they become signed code. Electronic Arts on the other hand does allow mod support in the Sims but by no means do they support and nurture mods. Every update to the game kills supports for mods that players have come to depend on. The game remains playable without them but it isn't the same game because some mods change the behavior of the Sims and circumvent policies that exist in the game which some players don't care about or are specifically opposed to. Nudity (decensor even though the characters are dolls unlike other games that are fully anthropomorphic), pregnancy (age and genre bias), and jealousy (to allow households with more sims without as much fighting) being some important ones.
