Sorry I haven't been around much. I was most active at a time when it looked very likely that my wife and I would break up; once we specifically decided to try to stay together, a lot of my time / emotional resources have been spent working on that.
Also, I joined facebook and started connecting to my relatives (most of whom I barely know due to a family squabble I was too young to even be told about at the time it began), and to the people I grew up with and went to school with.
I also got involved (informally) with efforts towards a large reunion for my high-school, but that's turned out to be a drag: only one of the organizers had any sense at all, and the rest are operating on wishes and dreams, and blocking me out when I ask embarrassing questions like "How many people are we planning for?" (an important question when they say that all that is really holding them up is securing a venue.)
It is possible that my account here will go inactive. That is not deliberate on my part: I am trying to find a way to get payment to SG. The cost is not a problem at all, but it seems that visa & mastercard "gift cards" cannot be used anymore for quarterly payments, and I'm in arguments with my bank about privacy issues for the credit card they've offered me. Nobody gets my taxpayer identifier number ("Social Insurance Number") unless they are obliged by law to collect it, not even credit bureaus -- and it is outright illegal here to deny me credit for refusing to give them the number.
Hmmm, wonder if I can buy -myself- a SG membership gift certificate??
