I saw a killer rock concert last night at the Silver Dollar. Now that I'm not playing in three or four bands I have the time to enjoy music as a spectator again. What a relief! The show was loud as fuck and there was a big mosh pit with some crowd surfing and head banging. I'll be playing my last concert with Chang-a-lang in October and then I'll be band-less for the first time in about eight years. I ran into some friends at the dollar and talked about jamming casually. What I'd really like, is to take my little nylon string acoustic and finally complete the jazzy jams I've been noodling around with for so long. Maybe I could get my beautifully voiced jazz singer friend Robin to sing on top of them. She might be able to help with lyrics because I'm a bit weak at that part. Elton John doesn't write lyrics either so I'm in good company in pop-terms. I JUST CAN"T FUCKING WAIT TO BE KING The other day the pitchfork music blog reviewed a friend's band who play electronic stuff. A while back I had gotten their album so I could try playing acoustic drums along with it but the way it is mastered leaves very little head room for more sounds in the mix. I'm going to have to try over and over to get some filter that would let my drums come through in the mix. Now that I'm not jamming all the time I need to pay attention to my music collection...get it sorted and loaded onto my computer again. Also I need to educate my self on metal because fuck is that fun to play on drums. I got the most recent dillenger escape plan album and just blared it at full blast cruising down the 401 on my way in to the show last night. FUCKING GLORIOUS Music makes me want to scream and punch assholes like my last roomate who curbed me as I was moving out and I've had a scar on my head since he punched like a girl with his nails out.
