Hrm... I'm not really a bloggy type person, but I suppose I might as well try it out and see if I actually manage to write another post after this one.
I suppose introductions are in order. I'm a student living in West L.A., returning to school to get my bachelor's degree in computer science after 15 years or so working in I.T. technical support and getting nowhere. The paychecks were nice, but the stress levels were off the charts, and what I really want to do is programming in a field where I actually have to figure out the answers, rather than coding up another business web app. I have an extremely wide variety of interests, and tend to dabble in anything that takes my fancy, from building a canvas tepee for camping, to blacksmithing and metalworking, to cooking, to fiddling with technological gadgetry (I like blinkylights ). My philosophy has always been to try out anything I have an interest in, and if I end up good at it great, and if not at least I tried.
The social aspect of SG appeals to me, and I really need to expand my circle of friends. I'm an introvert, socially awkward, and a geek, so making friends isn't easy for me, so I'm hoping that with the wide array of people types on the site I can find at least a few people I click with.
The university I'm enrolled in is online and has one class each month. This month's class is Artificial Intelligence, and I'm really excited about it since that is the field I'm considering going into for grad school. Maybe if I don't find anything else to blog about I'll gives updates on my school progress.
Anyways, that's all i can think of for now... For anyone reading this, *wave* hiya!
