So cast your silent ballot for the most pretentious member of SG. I'm voting the same as Blacklisted, I think.

I had the opportunity to judge a high school battle of the bands. It was really...awesome. I witnessed a 13 year old, clean-cut, brace-faced kid kick out "Blitzkrieg Bop" and rock it at twice the speed and tightness of the Ramones' version. The rest of his band ruled as well, as they looked like they were having fun without the persona of rockstar or any sort of goal except winning a microphone -- how is a band supposed to share a vocal mic? They came in second.
The band that came in first is this strange and eclectic mix of Radiohead and Jim Morrison. I wrote on my ballot that, "Thom Yorke called and wants his voice back". I'm not sure what the other judges were thinking, but neither of them listens to Radiohead so who knows?
The third placers were a jazz ensemble that covered Weezer's "El Scorcho" with the sweetest twist of sax and drones that made me really excited to be alive and jump for joy for the future of music, knowing that these kids might do something cool...and I'll get to review *it* instead of psycho-babbling Bonnie Rait/Mariah Carey wannabe Lisa ______.
I wann be fueled by Ramen right now. Gimme. Or a nice V8 and a Snickers -- surprisingly smooth.
