I spent yesterday in Cologne, on a business trip, going by train (some 4.5 hours) in the morning and flying back at night (about 1 hour), all for a 1.5 hour meeting. Happily, I had plenty of time to wander through the city center, where I hadn't been in a good number of years. It happened to be a glorious day, with me sadly overdressed in my suit jacket and tie. Sitting temporarily in the sun (I kept moving into the shade), and with a fine view of the cathedral, I had me a glass of Cologne's typical "Koelsch" beer or two or three (actually, four) and had me a light dinner - the good people of Cologne call the combination of rolls, gouda cheese, mustard and some onions a "halve hahn" which translates into "half a chicken" so you can see it might be confusing for first-time visitors :-)
Here's hoping everybody has a lovely weekend!
