Hi Guys,

I just wanted to apologize for STILL not having my picture up. I don't have any good excuses.
I found a room in an apartment to share with another woman or two. It's much nicer than I have ever lived in and it's got a dishwasher (room-mate problems just got solved).
All this Aragorn talk made me have a super-sweet dream last night....

You shouldn't apologize for not having a pic up. You can put it up whenever you damn well please, this is YOUR profile! wink

Thinking back, I've never "adopted" a Canadian team to cheer for. I love my Caps, and I got into the Mighty Ducks because my favorite Capital left to play for them (Adam Oates). He's not with them anymore, but I still cheer them on... And this season I'm liking the Bruins a lot, because they have a hot boy on their team that I'm crushing on. I'm so lame. smile

I despise the Penguins, because they're Washington's rivals. And I HATE the Lightning, mainly because they knocked the Caps out of the playoffs last year and they're the ONLY team I've seen the Caps lose to in regular season. I'm not a big fan of the Red Wings either...

Jeez, I sure got on a rant there. smile

And yes, Silence is lovely, and she promised to be my SG girlfriend! YAY!

Yes, yes, I am a Canadiens fan....how in the world did you guess? teehee

I hope your Oilers do better, I think both those teams need new and improved players!! The goalies are good but they can't do it all themselves.
I've missed hockey SO much, I'm glad the season has started again!! We even got digital cable now to be able to watch all the games this year. How addicted are we?

My kitty is all better smile He does this every 2-3 years. Thank goodness he doesn't block completely, it doesn't have time to form crystals....we catch him just in time.

I'm sorry you couldn't be home for Thanksgiving. That's hard. I missed my parents, they live far so we couldn't get together. We'll have to catch up at Xmas.

Yes, I've seen Pirates of the Caribbean. LOVE LOVE it. Gimme a dirty Johnny and Orlando anyday. *yum*

I can't believe how many SGs are out there. Talk about getting a bang for your buck. It's so much better than tv.
This week I had two Canadian encounters (man I miss home sometimes):
1. I saw this guy in the mall with an Edmonton Oilers jersey. I love the oilers (I'm just a raunchy, dirty hockey girl) and what are the chances? So...

You ain't kidding about the oven cleaning thing.

Get this: a month or so ago, I poured me a big tall glass of Sprite and set it on the oven while I got something out of the fridge. And clumsy me, I knocked it right over as I went to pick it up. Yup that's right, it all leaked down into the stove. I tried my best to clean it up, but the next few times I used the oven my apartment filled with this sickly sweet smell of burning sugary soft drink.

so yea...that's gonna be fun...maybe I'll let them keep that $35...

Hi! I toured Europe with my show 4 times last year and I believe we made it to Holland every time! We'll probably be back over in March to tour with The Monsters. Will you still be there?

What's a good little Canadian girl doing over in big bad Holland? Or did I say that the wrong way around? wink And about that booger, I was gonna say something but...

This week, with school, I got to visit a slaughter house. I still eat meat, so it wasn't too bad. I couldn't get over the smell though. I was amazed at how efficient/clean it all was. Every piece of meat was labelled and traceable back to the original animal and farm. But I guess in Holland they've had a lot of animal disease outbreaks, so...

Gee, Jolanda, youre making me feel all guilty. But seriously, this project is supposed to be different. The IJmeer was recognized as a very important freshwater ecosystem right from the start and a major goal was to not change its outer contours. So the engineers planned artificial islands and linked them. The coolest buildings of all at IJburg are actually floating. There are quite a few floating homes. Also, IJburg is not supposed to be a suburb that takes people and life away from the city. Its a new residential addition to downtown Amsterdam.

No doubt your Dutch is much better than mine. Here are two links you may find interesting:
www.ijburg.nl
http://www.ijburg.org/

IJburg is the most important urban project in Holland in thirty years, but ultimately, its just a drop in the bucket. Ive spent some time in Norway where theres still wilderness and Id have to say that in England and Holland weve lost almost all our natural environment years ago. We may even be losing our park-scale environment. I guess if you grew up in Canada, the contrast is even bigger. For me, the root environmental question is whether a tiny country like Holland really needs the 16 million people it already has, let alone more immigration. Its the same in England. But Im on the treadmill like everyone else. How much work would I get if no new buildings went up?

I have eaten some kind of eel here. I really liked it but probably cause it was smoked. I hope it wasnt the one on the threatened list. Poor guys, they come all the way here from the Caribbean (I guess its not for the sunbathing).

I dont have to wear suits much, but for client meetings and presentations its good to look the part. Maybe Ill put a cartoon of a typical mad purple-haired architect at work in my pix. Maybe Ill put one in of me in a flashy suit jacket (hmm, do I own such a thing?). These days Im more likely to be wearing a hard hat.

Hey Guys, sorry I haven't been around much. Been doing some reading/ looking here but not much writing. My opa just passed away and his funeral was today, so I feel better now that it is all over. It was to see my extended family, since I don't see most of them very often. It was also nice to see a good turn-out, he had...

Yeah Yeah Yeah!
Just finished my first week of school. Tsuba, I study in Utrecht which seems like a pretty happening town, I just wish I knew where all the cool people hang out...
All my windows are covered in spider webs and at twilight they all come out, madly spinning away. There must be at least a hundred, but I like them.

Hey, maybe you should check out Robodock next week, it's a festival near Rotterdam. I went there once when it was still held in Amsterdam, really something else. For details go to www.robodock.org.

How's school?? Did you meet some cool people to hang out with?

My haircut isn't real short. I had about 1 and 1/2 inch cut off. But it's a different haircut. I'll have to post pics soon.
