Thanks to aeryn and wan for your comments re Mar 29 entry; I want to respond to your comments here so if anybody else stops by I won't have to clarify these points over and over.
1. I made a point of saying I have codependent tendencies and I'm sensitive to the fact that just because I want this girl to get help doesn't mean she has to. I've told her a thousand times, however, that unless or until she does get help I want nothing to do with her, but that doesn't stop her from calling me on the phone and coming to my house. I even filed for a restraining order once, but--well, it's a long story. The fact is, and the only reason I brought it up is, COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR IS NOT A LEGITIMATE LIFESTYLE CHOICE.
2. I wrote a paper in school about this once; our culture has created an environment in which Pleasure is Sin, ergo Sin is Pleasurable--that is, people seem to derive more pleasure from Wrongdoing than from doing the Right thing. To avoid argument over what constitutes Right and Wrong behavior, to me good moral conduct simply means Nobody Gets Hurt. We all are allowed to hurt each other UNINTENTIONALLY, but we are then obliged to MAKE AMENDS if we do. Simple. I'm all for healthy female sexuality, aeryn, that's the whole point of what I was trying to say. I asked Melissa Farley the same question: Don't we all have to "prostitute" ourselves, just to earn a living? And she said, "Well there's prostitution and then there's Prostitution--" I urge everyone to visit Melissa's website, Prostitution Research.
3. wan, you said, "It doen't sound like you love her." How do you get that from what I wrote? That makes me want to kick your fucking ass. What I know is her entire family is in complete denial with their own trauma issues, the police tolerate drug-trafficking and prostitution because they themselves are users and sick fucks, and social services have their hands tied because they have no staff and no money (plus some of them are sick fucks just like the cops--think catholic priest-slash-sexual predator here) I just don't fucking want to live in this world anymore--
4. I'm really sorry I brought up the crackhead at all in that post, all I was asking was, does anyone think it's inappropriate for me, as a man, to say to women TAKE BACK YOUR BODIES, TAKE BACK YOUR SOULS because it's kind of an affirmative action thing and some oppressed minorities reject the notion that they need help achieving any kind of parity, or even not parity but something more sublime than parity with the sick-fuck dominant paradigm . . . ?
