caught a special Vice magazine screening of the incredibly awesome teenage wasteland movie OVER THE EDGE last night at the Walter Reade for Film Comment Selects. Teenage punks and Cheap Trick make a fucking awesome combo.
the 35mm print looked pretty decent and there was a cast reunion (sans mr. Matt Dillon) but it was still prety awesome. One of the trivia tidbits that came out was that director Jonathan Kaplan originally wanted to have The Who's "Baba O'Reilly" play over the coda of the film instead of Valerie Carter's cover of "Ooh Child." I'm not a fan of The Who and I'm glad they decided not to use "Baba" it would've been way too on the nose.
Anyway here's the 1979 trailer to the movie (and the conclusion with "Ooh Child" is below it.
