So I've been a member of this site since April of 2002, with a few lapses over the last decade, and 2018 marked the first Blackheart Burlesque show that I attended.
Honestly, I've always had a reservation about going because I thought it would be cheesy or annoying because it would just filled with empty, shameless nerd references.
But, I gotta say, I was super impressed by it. I went with my wife and we both had a blast.
Maybe it was because the show started late, but the pieces were all performed with this manic energy that really kept us engaged. Plus we were impressed by how the girls could perform so many different routines in such a short time span. Every dance was cool in its own unique way and every girl had a unique ability that complimented the group as a whole.
And of course some pieces were better than others, but the almost amateur feel of the (for lack of a better phrase) "lesser" pieces really made me appreciate the punk rock, DIY attitude of the show. It wasn't a super polished, professional event like a Vegas show, but it didn't pretend to be. Certainly, the effort showed through. This clearly wasn't a half-assed show. There were strengths and weaknesses which were presented together in such an un-pretentious way that it was clear the primary goal was fine-scotch-and-PBR fun. Everything seemed to flow under the philosophy of "every girl is rad for her own reasons."
Because that philosophy is what made me fall in love with this site in the first place.
Or maybe I'm reading too much into it all and should just appreciate the boobies and fannies. Very nice boobies and fannies!
