Even though I'm broke as fuck, with about $70 to my name, I bought some groceries for a homeless guy today hanging out front of the IGA. He had a sign & looked really ashamed of himself to even be asking for work/help. I've been homeless before, & know that feeling of finally reluctantly asking for help, when you really would rather just quietly suffer along. When I can, I prefer to give people food over money, because money can buy toxic shit, but food is nourishing & if you're truely homeless you will love getting food. I only bought him a loaf of bread, some deli meat to make sandwiches & some apples. But he was SO thankful I almost balled my eyes out. It doesn't take much to do the right thing & feel good about being a human, together with other humans on this earth.
