I went to the Garlic Festival last weekend. I have been around 15 times since my family moved to Gilroy when I was little. My friends and I got in for free because we're locals. We ate pesto and garlic bread and drank free piss beer, and I got a commemorative tin beer mug for my friend's birthday.
Then we went swimming at my parents' house for 2 hours and drank tons of Lagunitas and I got a mild sunburn. My friends from home are like the funnest people ever now. I guess they were in highschool too, but now I really appreciate it. Of course the no longer live there- now they live in Echo Park! Total hipsters, but the fun, crazy, goofy kind, not the snobby, better-than-you kind.
After that we went to see their dad's play- he is a professional stage actor and was playing George Shearer in a production of Zoot Suit that is being art directed by Luis Valdez. I think maybe Luis Valdez is involved in all productions of Zoot Suit. It was extremely good, even though a lot of the actors were first-timers. I really love that play and being around my friends. They are incredibly talented, smart, culturally aware people.
A great weekend. Then after I came back to the Bay Area I went up to San Rafael to get tattooed. My sleeve is coming along nicely. I love it!

Oh giiiirl. Thank you so much. Last week was frickin' awesome. I love it there. I was hella sad to go. This other job.....not a place I'm excited about going to. It's pretty darn blah all around. The position keeps me super busy which is fine but I have no time to even check out the Habit for Humanity stuff.
