So the academy is half over, had the mid term, got a 94, not bad. Next week is mostly tests and driving practicals. While its nice that I'm getting the time and being paid and travel covered to come up for it, it sucks that I can't get any overtime only comp or credit hours. Otherwise the PHX area is a nice change and te...

went for a stroll today and got a few pictures, but unfortunitly the photos are too big and my computer won't let me resize to a smaller size. Anyway, hiked up one of the front country canyons to an old catch dam, it was not to dam impressive. however, near by were many matete holes in the rock from the indians that inhabited the area...

Its been a while, so figured I post some things on here. Im officially done with work for the season, and oddly I stay just as busy as when I am working, but the busy-ness is flying, working out, prospecting, gardening, and working out. As for the flying, I'm almost finished with my instrument rating. The roses are blooming well, and have some winter veggies...

Got 2 days r&r today and tomorrow here in Helena. So today I slept in a little and didn't really get out of the bed until about 10. Then lunch at a pretty good pizza place up here, followed by a flight lesson with a local instructor. In that other than its just nice getting up in the air again, did some mountain flying skills...

Well survived 14 days in Montana, only got one fie that lasted about 30 min, so did more sawing in one of the project units. Also built some fence yesterday and got bit while stringing out the barbed wire. Hiking into Mann gulch, the site of a fire in 1949 that overtook and killed 12 smokejumpers back in 1949. After that working the weekend before...

Well, made it to Helena MT, after a short time off I was back on the road. Stayed last night in beaver, and any night in beaver is a good night. Got in after the sun set and pulled out before the sunrise, everything was wet in the morning by the way. All I know is that we're staffing an engine up here for the...

Well, my assignment here in New Mexico is coming to an end, we came down off the hill early today to clean saws and the house we've been occupying, but first myself and my saw partner are going to get some lunch in town. Then probably we're all throwing in and cramming into a cab to go downtown and show people how firefighters really are....
