Thank you @aonbheannach ! Lizzie is eleven but still loves long walks with her nose down on the ground. In the cool, wet winters here the ferns and moss cover Everything...and then most dry up in the summer. I don't think the red berries are cornus, the stems are very thorny! The last picture is of the first alder cones popping out...
