So it was E and my first anniversary yesterday, and we celebrated by enjoying restaurant week here in Philly!

Incidentally, did anybody else go to the big march on Washington this past Saturday? It had everything: Jane Fonda, Dennis Kucinich, free hugs, you name it!

Don't think about it too much. It just means I got some.

It's been quite a while since I've posted, so...

1. It's is freezing out there!
2. Anybody else headed to DC tomorrow?
3. It's almost time for restaurant week!

That is all. Please go about your business.

Because I don't talk about stuff like this, thats why!

Ooh, you have no testimonials, hows that possible? I'm gonna leave you one!

Also, what is restaurant week?
iris1:
Oh, sorry! I did think he was a beagle but I didn't want to trust my own judgement as I'm not good with the whole species-naming thing. However, I think you may have told me once before.

And you guys are special - thats much more than I'd ever write in a public entry!

We're back from Italy, and we had a ball!

We did everything! The sistine chapel, the colliseum, the Uffizi! Exhausting, but SO MUCH FUN! (Also, we had a friend recommend all the best pizza and gelato in Rome, and boy was he ever right!).

So anyway, happy new year everybody!

the centre of any city is quite scary on new years eve! Glad you survived. How was Italy? Hope you had a great time! Did you eat plenty of gelato? Hope so! God I miss that stuff. Its just not like that in England.

Happy New year!
iris1:
Argh okay so I left the note before I actually read the entry. You've answered all my questions. Hooray!

Today's the big day!

E and I are off to Italy for our vacation. Rome, Florence, Bologna! We have lists of good gelato and pizza places from local sources, and definite plans to see some ancient boobs, both painted and sculpted. Plus, maybe we'll even fight a lion or two (Give it a moment. It's a thinker).

Off we go...
iris1:
yay Rome! opposite the exit to the cistine chapel theres a gelateria that has THE best ice cream ever. Go there! xxx and have fun.

So what haven't we done over the last few weeks?

Well, in addition to seeing the Colbert report, we:
- Saw one of my favorite comedians at a club
- Went to the record release for one of my best friends
- Heard the Messiah at the Kimmel center with my folks
- Saw a pretty cool singer/songwriter
- Finished both of our respective terms...

E and I went to see a live taping of the Colbert Report the other night. Our timeline:
2 hours on the Chinatown bus,
1/2 hour trekking across New York
3 hours in line
1 hour sitting in a waiting room which reminded me of nothing so much as jury duty
1 hour in the studio being "warmed up" by a pretty decent standup comedian...

Nope - still only the two sets submitted. Though I did do a self-shot mini set that had some nice fodder for artistic pics, which is over at Flickr. ^_^

Good job, America! We won the House (Congratulations Speaker Pelosi!). We may win the Senate (though I'm reasonably happy with a 4 seat gain). We won how many governorships? And as of this writing, we didn't lose a single seat in either house held by a Dem. South Dakota rejected an outright ban on abortion.

So E and I went to her cousin's punk-rock wedding in Arizona this weekend. The theme was "Day of the Dead." There was booze and dancing and candy corns at the table and smoky dry ice at the altar. It was all you could possibly hope for. Two of the bridesmaids even got new tattoos to commemorate the occasion.

Plus ... burritos.

E is teaching me to play the guitar. I already learned a song!

That's right -- I'm becoming multi-talented. This makes 2!

yes, this chem teacher should really realize what an amazing discovery she's made. jeesh. now i just need to position the earth back to the center of our solar system and we'll be set.
iris1:
ooh she speaks Italian? Thats very cool. And yeah, you can just sit back and relax and not have to attempt to say anything!

I can't really eat pizza, I'm mildly allergic to wheat. I eat it at home sometimes but I didn't really want to get ill in a foreign country! I ate lots of steak instead!

I'm finding it a bit tough to focus today. I'm not entirely sure why.

I'll tell you this, though: I am very excited about the upcoming elections. I have a plate, and I am reasonably confident that we can serve up some republican ass on it. It looks very much like we'll win the house (I say "we" in the sense that anticipate anyone reading...

The British Museum is really dull! The Science Museum is actually the best but dinosaur bones are pretty cool too. Oh and I like the museum of London too.
