I was brought up on Star Trek the original series back in the sixties. TV was very restricted in those days for kids & in our house we could only watch what was on in the prime early evening slots. Somehow Kirk & Spock got into this slot along with Dr Who when it was in B&W and a continuous series, i.e. you had to wait till next week to find out what happened next. I wasn't allowed to watch TV on Saturday mornings so never got to see Thunderbirds or Captain Scarlet unless we were at someone else's house & they were allowed. It's always been a Fucket List thing for me to go to a Star Trek convention as my childhood special show and my affection for it has kept me a life long fan. So I finally did it at Destination Star Trek 3 in London, hurrah, to meet the people behind the characters. Yes I wore a costume although I wish it had been better one with more time to prepare, it was a Fucket List and it had to be done!!!
A handful of us were fortunate to speak to Leonard Nimoy via video link from City of Angels - Los Angeles on Vulcan I presume:
Captain Kirk or I should say William Schatner, who would rather have been out riding horses understandably, was there with security men in black suits not the ones in red shirts like the show. Once he took the stage he was hilarious & supreme entertainer even though I think he was a little harsh making fun of the Trekkie Weebs.
Nichelle Nichols aka Lieutenant Uhuru, supreme honey in those red skirts but on a serious note she was also an ardent Racial Rights campaigner.
A cool babe I met & wish I'd got her number, she could have pulled rank on me. Great outfit & If you are looking at this blog Admiral get in touch & let's Cosplay: Hey I can dream!!!
My next girlfriend will probably be a Vulcan but if not then a Klingon although I'm having difficulty getting any woman to 'cling on' boom, boom!! Anyway fell in love with Suzie Plakson aka K'Ehleyr her talks were very interesting and she was so charming to meet, thanks you made the event special.
Thanks too to all the others too, John de Lancie aka Q in particular for taking the time to talk & give some great advice. Yes I did meet Jeri Ryan aka 7 of 9, several times and she's far too hot to post, the photographer thought so too & the photo unfortunately is out of focus, as is Alice Krige aka Borg Queen who is a special lady. Mostly the regular folks & aliens in the crowd who were a great bunch and we had a good laugh like Spock Vegas, all the green women who were damn hot and so glad someone dressed up as this guy as it is one of my favourite shows it's so funny.
Of course now I'm hooked and looking forward to Las Vegas 2016 for the 50th anniversary of the first airing of the show. So hang in there guys!! We are all getting older but we will - LIVE LONG & PROSPER xxx
