There was a sudden and audible silence on the platform. Commuters stood rigid with shock as the train came screeching to its scheduled stop, unable to do anything as I dropped down to the edge of the platform and craned my neck over the lip to face the lines below. A brave man dashed past the crowd awaiting the 16:37 service to Buxton from Blackpool in order to pull me away but, inevitably, is too late to change things. As the two carriages judder to a halt my skull is crushed across the drivers compartment and i'm partially decapitated by time the man wrenches me away from the edge. There is a smile on the lower half of my face that is not ripped away as the station announcer informs people not to leave luggage unattended at any time.
