Well, tomorrow, September 9th, is my fucking birthday once again. yay men. Honestly, I don't really care about birthday's anymore. It is just another day of kicking ass and taking names, like I usually do. The punk portfolio project, We Are All We Have Tonight, is going well. I might take the rest of this weekend off from doing anything with it just so I might be able to enjoy a little bit of time relaxing tomorrow and go to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and tour around, looking at some good and classic art work, then go to a nice little foodie place and eat, come home and get ready for work on Monday.
I am excited for my exhibition to open up next month in Oklahoma City, OK at the Oklahoma Contemporary. The collection that I am exhibiting there is the Portraits of Latinx Identity. It has been about two years since this project has been exhibited and this is a great time to do it, especially with Trump and all of his fucked up shit. Yes, I am political with my work, and oh fucking well if that doesn't float well with some people That is who I am, and I care about my fellow Latinx brothers and sisters, especially since I am one of them and I have the ability to speak up for my heritage with my art work and make a point point with it.
In other news, I am really starting to feel good about my body image again. Last weekend I took the daughter out to do celebrate a little early (our birthdays are on the same day but her mother is taking her out tomorrow) and I tried on some new pants (at Holistar, go fuck yourself if you have an issue with the store, my daughter wanted to go there to look for a new sweater). I had not tried on any new pants in well over a year and I wanted to see what I was at now...and I now wear a size 34/33 (inch waist). I shit you not. My work pants are at a 38, my shorts are at a 40...so I am happy with the mass that I have lost. I will admit that since the school year has started up, I have not been to the gym yet, but I have been riding my bicycle a lot more and broke out my weights at home and have been using them. So while I may not have been losing as much weight or mass as I would have been if I continued to be at the gym three days a week, i am still keeping up some work outs. I am also getting on average 10,000 steps a day at the job...so I have been keeping very active. OH, and I am still playing softball every Monday, so there is that too. So I am trying, and I hope to be able to get back to the gym after work starting on most days here soon, after the semester settles down a little bit (I am a second grade para-educator when I am not doing my photography work...so yes, the 7 and 8 year olds keep me on my feet pretty much all day). So the gym is the final bit of that puzzle that I need to put in there, especially as the colder weather starts to hit and I will not be able to take my bicycle out for a quick 10 mile ride anymore without having to have a heater with me as I go...lol.
Outside of that, I am still rediscovering my old punk self as I continue to photograph and reintroduce myself with the punk scene around me. Even went as far as getting a new pair of docs, which is amazing. I have not had a pair since I was about 16 years old maybe, and when I put on those green gorgeous babies, it felt AMAZING, like I was back again.
but that is it for now, I will stop boring you, right now and let you get on with your day.
Much love -
Fast.
