We go out, just two guys having a few drinks. I tell you I had a fight with the wife, you offer me a couch to sleep on for a night. We split a cab, get back to your place, you close your door and out of nowhere I punch you in the ear as hard as I can. You don't even hit the ground before the kicks start coming, you were nothing but nice to me, you don't have a clue why this is happening but it doesn't matter, you can't even beg me to stop because you're to dazed and in too much pain. You honestly wonder if it's ever going to stop or if I'm just going to beat you to death, but it does stop, I get whatever it was out of the exchange that I wanted and I leave.
Sometime later you get to your phone or a neighbor hears you calling for help, either way help comes, first responders arrive and they begin a process that at NO time will involve or intimate wether you were drinking, how much you might have had, what clothes you wore, whether you invited me in with the intention of getting into a physical altercation, or how many men you've gotten into a fight with before me.
When you I.D. me, the police arrest my ass, no one cuffing me is thinking "well there but for the grace of god go I." When I go to court, because of course the D.A's office is pressing charges, you aren't even going to need to be in the courtroom as pictures are shown of how I injured you before a judge puts my ass away for six to sixteen for attempted murder.
When a man assaults another man there is a 67% chance of conviction.
When a man sexually assaults a woman there is a less than 40% the D.A's office will even choose to help or get involved in anyway and less than a 22% chance of conviction when they do.
We don't just need feminism to fight rape, we need an entire restructuring of our criminal justice systems way of working.
Until that day I will openly advocate for the extrajudicial killing of rapists, period, end of sentence.
